This morning as I worshiped the Lord, my thoughts became fixed on one overwhelming truth—His unfathomable love. The longer I meditated on it, the more I realized that there is no greater assurance a believer can possess than knowing he is deeply loved by God.
We live in a world that has been defiled by sin. Every day we encounter disappointment, sickness, betrayal, injustice, loneliness, and loss. It is easy to look at the brokenness around us and wonder where God is. If a person does not know the Lord, they may easily conclude they have been abandoned in the chaos of this fallen world. But the believer has something the world does not have—a revelation of God’s love.
God’s word tells us: “But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children.”
Psalm 103:17 (NIV) And, “Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.”
Psalm 36:5 (NIV)When you know that God loves you with an everlasting love, you can rest in the certainty that He is with you every moment of every day. Circumstances may change, but His love never does. Trials may come, but His presence never leaves. Even when we cannot see His hand, we can trust His heart.
As I reflected on this, my thoughts turned to the apostle Paul. Few people have ever suffered as Paul suffered. He was beaten, imprisoned, rejected, persecuted, shipwrecked, and often deprived of life’s basic necessities. Yet one of the most remarkable scenes in all of Scripture is Paul and Silas singing hymns to God while sitting in prison with their feet fastened in stocks.
There was no bitterness. There were no accusations against God. There was no “Why me?” or “Lord, where are You?” Paul understood that he lived in a fallen world that opposed Christ and hated the truth. He knew hardship would accompany his calling, yet suffering never convinced him that God loved him any less. His confidence rested in the unchanging character of God, not in changing circumstances.
Then another thought came to my mind. I thought about Lucifer. He occupied one of the highest positions ever given to a created being. He lived in the very presence of God’s glory and goodness. Yet pride deceived him into rejecting the goodness of the God who had given him everything. Instead of trusting the One who loved him perfectly, he exalted himself and lost everything.
What an incredible contrast. Paul sat in chains and sang because he trusted God’s love. Lucifer stood in glory and fell because pride blinded him to God’s goodness. The difference was not their circumstances. The difference was the posture of their hearts toward God.
I believe one of Satan’s greatest strategies against believers is to convince them that God has somehow abandoned them when life becomes difficult. Or, that He loves others more than He loves us, (after all, they are more blessed than I am!) If he can cause us to doubt God’s love, he can weaken our faith, rob us of our peace, and steal our joy. But God’s Word tells a different story. His love has never diminished. His love has never failed. His love has never run dry.
No matter what you face today, remember that your heavenly Father sees every tear, knows every burden, and walks beside you through every trial. He has not forgotten you. He has not forsaken you. His love for you is not measured by your circumstances but by His unchanging nature. There is no shortage of God’s love. There never has been. There never will be.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38–39 (NIV)
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your unfailing and everlasting love. In a world filled with uncertainty, heartache, and disappointment, You remain faithful and unchanging. When circumstances tempt us to doubt, remind us that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ Jesus. Help us to live each day with the confidence that You are with us, guiding our steps, strengthening our hearts, and working all things together for our good. Keep us from believing the lies of the enemy that say we are forgotten or alone. Instead, anchor our hearts in the truth that Your love reaches to the heavens and Your faithfulness never fails. May the revelation of Your love fill us with peace, strengthen our faith in every trial, and inspire us to trust You more deeply each day. Let our lives become a testimony of joyful confidence in the God who never leaves nor forsakes His children. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
