Where did July go? We're up to the last days of summer. For many it's a time to squeeze in one last vacation, picnicking with friends, hiking, going to the beach, or just getting outside to enjoy the last of the really warm weather. Church members may be looking forward to a new year of Sunday School or Bible classes, a time to reevaluate and plan new programs.
Wherever you find yourself this month, you have an opportunity to persevere in the Christian faith, and that will be the theme for the month. Our journey of faith was never meant to be easy -- there will be trials, suffering, persecution and temptation. This is a given. However, the Bible tells us in many places and in many ways that we need to develop a disciplined life as we persevere.
Of course, there may be times when the Spirit leads to other topics, and there will be plenty of book reviews, movie reviews and music. But I'm hoping that by the end of August, each of us will have a renewed desire to grow in the faith as we pursue the will of God. He loves you and so do I!
