This was not a high-participation year for me. I'm sad about that, but it is what it is. I can make plenty of excuses about it--my life is really fragmented right now, lots of interruptions; I'm finding it difficult to concentrate, getting distracted easily; lots of things to do, and as the day goes on, I run out of energy. The truth is, I did the best I could. This is a busy season of my life; maybe next year will be easier.
My goal for the two months was to get better at drawing and painting people. I didn't achieve that goal, but I can use it for another challenge some other time.
In June I managed to draw nine portraits. Some days I was not pleased with the result and threw it away, sure I could do a better job, and I was right. In July I switched to painting, and I completed five. Some took me two days to finish, because I wanted sections to dry before I continued. So, a grand total of fourteen cards for 61 days. In 2022 I made 38; in 2021, 52. But honestly, without the challenges I would probably have made fewer than ten little drawings or paintings.
