A relatively modern tradition celebrates two main Marian Feasts in August. The first is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary which we celebrate on 15 August, & the second is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary on 22 August (also formally known as The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) & so it is, that Today we meet the Octave of the Assumption. Our ancestors celebrated all major Feasts for 8 days = for an octave - Essentially the same liturgy was invoked, using the same texts & songs for 7 days - Then on the 8th day - The Octave - we receive a heightened experience, honoring the more occult themes of the Feast for the last time in a special celebration.
pope Paul VI decided to add his papal Bull to the mix - switching the Feasts of the Immaculate Heart & the Queenship of Mary - so that thru this proclaimation the date of the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was changed! - co-joined to the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (formally celebrated around the Summer Solstice 20 June) Sure, I get it - Their 2 hearts are One - & yes, Change is good. As you may know, I’m usually not one to give much authority to papal Bull, but when it comes to the ‘Mary’s’, I always seek to bring forth the essence of the Divine Feminine even if it comes from the dubious church Matrix - So I will share this inspired pope quote which came thru none the less & all the more:
“May all recognize more clearly and venerate more devoutly the merciful and maternal sway of the Mother of God. May this feast help to preserve, strengthen and prolong that peace among nations which daily is almost destroyed by recurring crises. Is she not a rainbow in the clouds reaching towards God, the pledge of a covenant of peace?” ~pope Paul VIAmen! & So mote it Bee!
And what’s also cool is that this inspiration then encourages a deeper focus on the imagination of Mary’s Queenship - Coupling it with Her attribute as the Dove of Peace -
After her Assumption into Heaven, Mary is Queen of Heaven - right there beside her Son, The Being of Love - & the ‘Father Ground of the World’ - in a restoration of the Trinity. So today on this octave, Let’s join together to work with Her as “Queen of Peace,” to help us turn the tide of constant war & conflict - thru Her powerful intercession.
May we strive to make our hearts Immaculate - to share the true Crown of our Queen - & become a beacon of Love & Peace in the world. ~hag

To honor & foster the Christian Community of Southeast Wisconsin, we gather for ‘Devotional Services’ in-between Priest Visits. All are welcome to join in this opportunity to come together for devotion, reflection, & sharing.
