Hazel Archer-Ginsberg Jan 25   READ IN APP   Today, the 25th of January, is called the Conversion of St. Paul - The Feast Day when Saul became Paul. Acts 9 - Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the Temples in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” This day is also the anniversary of the date in 1910, 115 years ago, when Rudolf Steiner first spoke about what he called: ‘The Event of Christ’s Appearance in the Etheric World’ which he said was inspired by the Maitreya Buddha, & a Cardinal Grand Cross that was occurring at that time! So I’d like to share a quote from Steiner’s lecture called: ‘The Etherisation of the Blood’. “For we have now reached the point of time when the Etheric Christ enters into the life of the Earth and will become visible — at first to a small number of individuals through a form of natural clairvoyance. Then in the course of the next three thousand years, He will become visible to greater and greater numbers of people. This will inevitably come to pass in the natural course of development. That it will come to pass is as true as were the achievements of electricity in the nineteenth century. A number of individuals will see the Etheric Christ and will themselves experience the event that took place at Damascus. But this will depend upon such human beings learning to be alert to the moment when Christ draws near to them. In only a few decades from now it will happen, particularly to those who are young — already preparation is being made for this — that some individual here or there has certain experiences. If they have sharpened their vision through having assimilated Anthroposophy, they may become aware that suddenly someone has come near to help them, to make them alert to this or that. The truth is that Christ has come to them, although they may believe that what they saw was a physical man. They will come to realise that what they saw was a super-sensible being, because it immediately vanishes. Many a human being will have this experience when sitting silent in their room, heavy-hearted and oppressed, not knowing which way to turn. The door will open, and the etheric Christ will appear and speak words of consolation to them. The Christ will become a living Comforter to human beings. However strange it may as yet seem, it is true nevertheless that many a time when people — even in considerable numbers — are sitting together, not knowing what to do, and waiting, they will see the Etheric Christ. He will Himself be there, will confer with them, will make His voice heard in such gatherings. These times are approaching, and the positive, constructive element now described will take real effect in the evolution of humankind. “ It should also be mentioned that these lectures on the etheric appearance, were followed by the writing and premiere of the first of Rudolf Steiner’s four Mystery Dramas, The Portal of Initiation, performed the same year in Munich. In the opening scene of this Mystery Drama, the character Theodora announces in artistic form the impending appearance of Christ in the etheric, which will not depend on faith but rather on a newly won, light-filled spirit vision. In the second part of Theodora’s speech, addressed to a number of friends engaged on a spiritual path, she says: “A human being emerges from glowing light. It says to me: You shall proclaim to all who have the will to hear that you have seen what human beings soon will experience. Christ once lived on earth, and from His life flows human growth on earth. He is united with the spiritual part of Earth, but human beings cannot yet behold Him in the form in which He reveals Himself; because they lack the eyes of Spirit that will be theirs. Now the time draws near when with new power of sight human beings on earth will be endowed. What once the senses could behold, when Christ lived on the earth, will be perceived by human souls”.
