Dear Adventurer - It’s time to set a new rhythm - Hold your breath & count to 7 as you make a spiritual wish - on this the shortest day - when the Solstice ‘Sun stands still’ ……. Breathe it out – watch it form - a cloud-bubble speaking seeds into the dark - Knowing that in this ‘Season of Preparation’, when our inner gaze contemplates the old year – we are lifted into a future remembrance - Space opens - & we step beyond Time – into an Advent event that purifies the astral ethers thru our intent to repent, in this our Winter Lent - & in response, the stars begin to stream fresh forces into our soul garden – Our inner lotus flowers - with their starry faces - shape-change into snowflakes - to blanket the Earth’s womb with stars. The trials of Advent are the Earth’s time of conception & labor. And at Christmas, Mother Earth becomes Mary - delivering her Child of Light after the darkest night. For this to happen the waters must break -
And all thru our labor we can know - that within Earth’s innermost depths, a warming lode-stone is silently suckled by the Cosmic luminaries beyond the firmament. The depths become the Manger in which the new-born Son takes repose - softly sending out rays of Hope - to renew Universal existence.
By meeting the temptations of the first 3 weeks of Advent, we arrive at the Threshold to the Temple of the human being – the portal to the Higher “I”.
This 4th week resonates in the essence of the human kingdom with its challenges to come to know what it means to be human & Divine - a process of great mystery. We know that Advent is an inner exercise of Becoming present, & since the word Advent comes from the Latin ‘advenire’, we are invited ‘to arrive’. But before we can open the present of Love’s Light – Advent takes us thru a passage where we meet the Trials of Fire, Water & Air – Because, part of this preparation is facing up to the adversarial forces which are actively working in us. And yes, O yes, those Inner & outer obstacles are an essential part of our human experience.
We can see it as a Quest to find our human Wisdom - & We can only go forward because of the help of all the lower kingdoms who sacrifice themselves, to become for us the ‘Ganganda greida’ — which translate as = ‘circulating cordial’ – or ‘food for spiritual travelers’ - I like to call it Mother’s Milk - an aspect of the Holy Grail containing miraculous nourishment, the perfect substance that fulfills each of our individual needs. This elixir is prepared thru the transformation of our sense-impressions, extracting the finest spiritual qualities to sustain the noblest part of our human becoming – a Sophianic gift of Wisdom that we then use in service to humanity.
This ‘Great Work’ – this Quintessential Quest - begins with the admonition passed down thru the ages to: “Know Thyself”/ Gnothi Seauton. Cultivating insight into our humanness is not an easy task - & it is not meant to be. We make the intention to plunge into the unknown. The Greek word ‘seauton’ means more than the little self we refer to when we say: me. It speaks of our potential - & the triumph of our Higher “I”. This Quest is a lonely path, & yet it requires interaction with others – where we become the mirror to each other. If this causes friction, well then maybe it’s a clue that we have aroused a memory of a past life connection. If these karmic knots remain unconscious, if we do not rise to the occasion, then more often than not antipathy or antagonism arises instead. Conflict is another signal to “Know Thyself” – a sign that power is there waiting to be redirected.
Just think how the incarnation of the Being of Love at Christmas created tension even before the birth. The family of the Luke Jesus had to travel to Bethlehem - where Mary was burdened to give birth in a sable.
And the family of the Matthew Jesus had to flee to Egypt, or risk the murderous wrath of Herod.
When we take up the task to “Know Thyself” we will go thru labor pains - We will be challenged, & uprooted. Our higher evolution can be detected by how well we deal with all the adversity. Can we recognize that it gives us an opportunity to change our hearts & minds? What would it be like to convert the bitterness we feel for those that push our buttons, into immense gratitude? – a potent medicine that helps us to see the other as a catalyst to overcome our moral failings. We are who we are for a reason. We are in a karmic group for a reason. At the heart of this work is learning to Love. This reason to Love is embedded in the purpose of our life. This final week of Advent asks us to stop criticizing human behavior – Instead we can understand that we all have the same “Know Thyself” task - Then if we cultivate compassion - Love wells up – the new kind of Love that was born in Bethlehem. With this kind of understanding, The Festival of Christmas no longer oscillates between sentimentalism - materialism - or abstract mysticism - it Becomes a practical moment in our lives to give birth to a new aspect of ourselves – Yes, Birth is a Labor of Love -one that comes with pain - as well as Joy.
Thru the light of the Christ Star we are guided to “Know Thyself” - & Just like the imagination we are given at the altar of the Christian Community Church, we can picture 2 Christmas trees – & realize that only when the Tree of Life, & the Tree of Knowledge, Become one within us, will The Christ be born in the inner manger we are preparing now. ~hag Video for the 4th Week of Advent
