“At Midsummer the earth’s soul becomes pious. The warmth that flames through the atmosphere is like a mighty sacrificial fire on the wings of which the soul soars upwards towards the sun…” ~Emil Bock Every day, thru all Seasons, I walk my bird-dog Winifred J. Rabbit in the Graceland Cemetery a block from our homestead near the Great Inland Sea of Chicago. Besides being a graveyard for the rich & famous robber Barrons of the 18 & 19 centuries, Graceland is also an arboretum – so the amazing trees give much appreciated shade, with many native areas & grottos for the family of coyotes who live there. Today the Mulberry trees are bursting with ripeness, & the dragonflies are fat & sassy by Willowmere Pond. When I got home I found this poem: Here are more images to ponder - “The teachers in the Mysteries said: “In this way the folk of olden times tried to safeguard themselves from Luciferic influences. The leaders of the Mysteries called together their pupils & enacted a fervent rite at the culmination of which the thoughts that had been revealed by the Upper Gods were now offered back up to them in upward-streaming feelings. The external rite consisted in solemn words being spoken into the rising smoke of a bonfire, which then set the smoke into waves. This offering made by their inmost soul to the Upper Gods was being inscribed into an outer medium — the rising smoke — through form-creating words. The words of the prayer inscribed into the rising smoke the feelings which the soul desired to send upwards to the Gods as an offering for the thoughts they had revealed.” ~Rudolf Steiner, The Spiritual Communion of Mankind “…Now, humanity must learn to know consciously the etheric & astral elements outside ourselves. This we can do only through the reverent deepening of spiritual science…This is what Anthroposophy intends when it speaks of a renewal of the festivals… We must come once more to an inner understanding of what the cycle of the year can mean to humanity in this connection; it can then be something even loftier than it was for us long ago”…~Rudolf Steiner, The Cycle of the Year as Breathing-Process of the Earth Find a collection of the many RECORDINGS of Presentations, Programs & Festivals HERE Get into the Seasonal Swing with these live & recorded offerings: Tune into A storytelling tale for St. John’s-Tide on the eveMonday 23 June 2025 on zoom High Noon Central TimeSt. John the Baptist & Uriel the Archangel of SummerAn Experiential Festival with Mysteria Mystica Americana (MA) Leading Thoughts & Images by ~hag as a member initiative for MA “The Forerunner & the Archangel Uriel”Musical Performances w/ Lucien Dante Lazar; Speech w/ Geoffrey Norris; Eurythmy w/ Elizabeth Carlson; Practicum w/ Lisa Dalton; Leading Thoughts by hag Front Range Anthroposophical Café presents: Summer Solstice ‘RING of FIRE’ with Hazel ArcherAll are Welcome to join us for a Farm to Table Brunch in support of Zinniker Farm - The oldest continuous Biodynamic Farm in the USA Saturday 28 June 2025 11 am - 1:30 pm at The Chicago Christian Community 2135 W Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 Menu includes food fresh from the farm:
