Subscribe here for more White Lotus Day The Masters of Wisdom & Harmony still speak Hazel Archer-Ginsberg May 8   READ IN APP   ~Grev Kafi Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, co-founder of the Theosophical Society, crossed the Threshold on 8 May 1891. A year later on the anniversary of her death, many white lotus flowers suddenly bloomed at the Headquarters of the Theosophical Society in Varanasi India. And so it was that ‘White Lotus Day’ was created - becoming the symbol of her passing. These special flowers rising from still water represent purity, wisdom, & spiritual growth, all key ideas in her work. The great Rosicrucian Initiate Rudolf Steiner, who lectured for the Theosophists, as head of the German section of the Society, spoke about her to the members in Berlin in 1907: “Today, the name H. P. Blavatsky unites the thoughts of all Theosophists around the world. However, only a few people today know what spiritual progress owes to the founder of this movement. And even these few know it only partially. For the profound wisdoms contained in ‘The Secret Doctrine’ reveal themselves only slowly and gradually. Whenever one has advanced a little further on the path that loses itself at dizzying heights for every human eye, one discovers new secrets in this book, for which one could not have had the right understanding before. In the beginning, one may still ask about the outward details of her life in order to gain a relationship with her. But there comes a point when all outward appearances fade away in the face of the realization of the immeasurably significant spiritual mission of HPB, and her great task within the present spiritual movement. Those who then really perceive something of this spiritual mission will, from the knowledge gained, understand how they should relate to this great pioneer. A person who has such a mission must necessarily first accept misunderstanding and even defamation. These are among the sacrifices made in life. HPB's work took place at a time when materialistic thinking and attitudes were expanding tremendously. Science, life, everything, seemed to supply the building blocks for materialism to erect a gigantic structure. The personality who in such a time brought humanity a renewed awareness of the truth of a spiritual world had to be complex. One has to consider that it depends not only on the truth as it should be handed down to people, but also on the people themselves. It was infinitely difficult to convey the truth to a materialistic way of thinking and attitude in such a way that it could be understood. How HPB had to act was dictated by the measure of understanding that the time could bring her. When a hammer strikes an object, what happens depends not only on the hammer. Glass shatters and lead is beaten into a thin plate. When the great spirit gives great gifts, it must pour its gifts into the vessels that are held out to it by the recipients. It was precisely the spirit of the time in which she had to fulfill her mission that made it so infinitely difficult. The fact that she took on this mission at all testifies to the insight of the size of her personality; but it also testifies to how great the willingness of this personality was to make the sacrifices associated with the mission. Much has been objected to, namely by the learned or those who want to be learned, regarding the authenticity, etc., of HPB's achievements. It has been doubted that she really did receive her revelations from the source she indicated. But does it depend on that? Isn't it more important to understand the work and recognize its inner value? How many would have to say, with proper study, that they can learn things from the source of HPB's writings that could not be revealed to them from anywhere else. In any case, she is the mediator. Is it wise to receive truths from the hand of a person that deal with the highest things, and then to find fault with the credibility of the same person in much lesser things? The accusers of this personality must gradually see their entire edifice collapse if they have acquired an understanding, even to a moderate degree, of her spiritual power and the nature of her mission. And gradually the image of the woman will emerge from the ruins of accusations, misunderstandings, etc., a woman who placed her abilities at a significant turning point in the service of a movement whose value will not be recognized except by those who have not yet acquired an understanding of it. But Theosophists will always celebrate White Lotus Day, as the day of remembrance of the moment when HPB left the physical plane, as a day of celebration, and as a day of love and gratitude to the foundress of our movement. And we sense that this appreciation of ours will itself be an unfolding lotus flower. For the more we ourselves ascend in knowledge, the larger and more widespread will be the petals of the flower. But for this ascent HPB's work is again the ladder that holds us. Therefore gratitude must be the echo that flows from our hearts when the White Lotus Day is a living symbol of our growing knowledge. The great leaders of humanity, the masters of wisdom and of the harmony of perceptions, have poured a stream of spirituality into this materialistically colored life. And the soul of HP Blavatsky was the gateway through which this stream flowed to humanity. We can learn from HP Blavatsky how to become a disciple of the great guides, because her way of life is characterized by true discipleship. Her devotion was selfless in the highest sense, and only through such devotion does one become an instrument for the work of the great guides. This unselfishness, too, has been doubted from some quarters, but only by those who have no conception of true sacrifice of soul. ~Rudolf Steiner - (GA 37) ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (Indications from the orignal Calendar of the Soul by Rudolf Steiner + Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) 3 events on 8 May connected to the Archangel Michael: 490, 1429, 1945 ~Cesare Nebbia The Feast of the Apparition of Michael at the Garganico Sanctuary of San Michele in Monte Sant’Angelo. In the year 490, when a nobleman of this small village lost the best bull in his herd, he went searching for him and found the bull kneeling in a deserted cave. The cave was inaccessible, and so in order to scare the bull out of the cave, the nobleman shot an arrow at it, but to his amazement the arrow turned around and struck him instead! He fell on his face & prayed. A being appeared at the entrance to the cave: “I am the Archangel Michael and I am always in the presence of God. This cave is sacred to me. The Bull’s Blood need not be shed. What will be asked here in prayer will be granted as sure as my Countenance is of The Christ. Build therefore on this mountain and dedicate the cave to Christian worship.” Saint Michael’s Cave was named “the Celestial Basilica”. It is one of the seven sacred sites along an imaginary line stretching from Ireland to Israel, known as “The Sword of Saint Michael“. (Interesting to think that the Bull was sacred to Mithras, an early incarnation of the Being Michael. And many depictions show a ‘celestial’ connection as well.) Jules Eugène Lenepveu 1429 – Joan of Arc who worked closly with the Archangel Michael lifts the Siege of Orléans, on this day, turning the tide of the Hundred Years’ War. For years, vague prophecies had been circulating in France concerning an armored maiden who would rescue France. Many of these prophecies foretold that the armored maiden would come from the borders of Lorraine, where Domrémy, Joan’s birthplace, is located. As a result, when word reached the besieged citizens of Orléans concerning Joan’s journey to see the King, expectations and hopes were high. The city of Orléans commemorates the lifting of the siege with an annual festival, including both modern and medieval elements and a woman representing Joan of Arc in full armor atop a horse. On 8 May Orléans simultaneously celebrates the lifting of the siege and V-E Day – Victory in Europe in 1945 – the day that Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allies to end World War II in Europe. 1891 – Death Day of Helena Blavatsky, Russian-English mystic & author, said to be the reincarnation of Cagliostro by Emil Bock. In her will, HPB suggested that her friends might gather together on the anniversary of her death & read from Sir Edwin Arnold’s The Light of Asia & from The Bhagavad Gita. Lotuses grew in unusual profusion one year later - so May 8 became known as White Lotus Day. 1903 – Deathday of Paul Gauguin, French painter and sculptor. His work was influential to the French avant-garde & many modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso & Henri Matisse. 1922 – D. N.
