As spring awakens with its promise of new beginnings, I find myself on the cusp of a deeply meaningful journey back to a place that holds a special corner in my heart. This April, I am thrilled to announce that I will once again be joining the wonderful Poynton Male Voice Choir for a concert that promises to be a celebration of music, community, and enduring connections.
The occasion? The Choir's 90th anniversary is a momentous milestone that speaks volumes about the power of music to unite, inspire, and sustain. I first had the honour of performing with this talented ensemble in December 2012. The Christmas concert we shared not only filled the Poynton Methodist Church with the spirit of the season but also supported the invaluable work of the North West Air Ambulance.
Fast forward to now, and the excitement is palpable. The concert, set for Saturday, 20th April 2024, isn't just a performance; it's a homecoming. The Poynton Male Voice Choir, with its rich history and vibrant community spirit, represents more than just musical excellence; it embodies the warmth and unity that only such gatherings can evoke.
Reflecting on our previous collaboration brings a smile to my face. The joy of music, the warmth of the audience, and the cause we supported made that December night unforgettable. It's a fond memory that makes this upcoming event even more special to me.
As we prepare to come together again, I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia, particularly for the chance to sing alongside Maurice Hargreaves, a cherished member of the choir. Maurice has been a good friend and keen follower of my musical journey since those early days at the Hazel Grove Music Festivals, where I took my first steps along my musical path at the tender age of 12. His support and friendship over the years have meant the world to me, making this reunion even more special. This concert isn't just about marking nine decades of musical achievement; it's about rekindling the joy and camaraderie that music brings into our lives, underscored by the longstanding relationships that have grown alongside my musical career. I am eagerly looking forward to sharing the stage with Maurice and the Choir, basking in the harmony of voices united in song, and connecting once again with friends old and new.
So, to everyone who has supported us, cheered for us, and shared in our musical journeys, I extend a heartfelt invitation. Join us, at 7:30 pm at Poynton Methodist Church as we celebrate the Poynton Male Voice Choir's 90th anniversary, a testament to the enduring power of music and community. It promises to be an evening of beautiful music, shared memories, and new moments to cherish. Tickets of £12.00 for adults and £6.00 for children are available on the door or by email from secretary.pmvc@gmail.com.
Until then, keep the melody of anticipation humming in your hearts. I can hardly wait to see you there, to share in the joy of music, and to create new memories together.
