Every day the children in Acorns are asked to scale themselves, this simple activity gives the children an opportunity to say how they are feeling. The children will scale themselves between 1-5 ( 1 being sad), the children are happy to share with the grownups in the class how they are feeling and they know that it's ok to be sad sometimes.
To support mental health week we have been watching a short video clip about what is important to me. During the video clip it was paused to give us the opportunity to talk about each picture. Some of the comments- all of us loved chocolate cake, especially our grownups. Lots of us thought it is fun to go on a sledge in the snow but some of us thought it was too scary.
Another short video clip was about Elmo and why Elmo feels proud. After the video we discussed with our grownups what makes us proud. We said that helping my friends and being nice.
