Casio has announced the launch of its latest addition to the G-SHOCK family of resilient timepieces, paying tribute to International Women's Day with the vibrant release of the GMA-P2100W. This compact watch, sporting the signature octagonal bezel design from the iconic 2100 line, debuts in a charming yellow hue inspired by the tradition of honoring women with mimosa flowers on this significant day.
In a move to cater to diverse preferences, Casio has been scaling down its popular G-SHOCK watches to introduce a broader range of compact models suitable for everyone, irrespective of gender. Emphasizing the inclusivity of G-SHOCK toughness, the GMA-P2100W builds upon the design of the GMA-P2100, featuring a delightful yellow reminiscent of mimosa flowers across all facets of the timepiece.
Crafted with comfort in mind, the watch boasts a shorter band length tailored to fit slimmer wrists seamlessly. What's more, both the bezel and band are constructed from bio-based resin derived from renewable organic resources like corn, marking a significant step towards reducing environmental impact. Packaged in special mimosa yellow-themed packaging, this timepiece serves as a perfect gift for that special someone.
In a bid to engage with a wider audience, G-SHOCK has launched the "WOMEN OF OUR TIME" website, dedicated to spotlighting remarkable women from various domains who fearlessly challenge the status quo. Through video features, viewers are invited to delve into the inspirational journeys of 3D/CG artist YUKARI, G-SHOCK athlete and professional skateboarder Aori Nishimura, professional surfer Sakura Johnson, and professional skateboarder Cocona Hiraki. Behind their remarkable achievements lies a narrative of resilience, perseverance, and an unwavering spirit of determination.
Celebrated annually on March 8th, International Women's Day gained official recognition from the United Nations in 1975. It serves as a platform to acknowledge the expanding roles of women in peace, security, development, and leadership across various spheres. Additionally, it prompts reflection on how to further advance gender equality and empower women globally.
The Casio Compact GMA-P2100W-7A watch is priced at $159 and will be available for purchase starting from March 1, 2024.
