It's December, and that's a time of the year we become very aware of the importance of traditions. There are family traditions, church traditions, and maybe others at our workplace, or club, with friends. So, our theme this month is tradition. Which ones are important? Why are they important? Which ones mean the most to us? Which ones can we discard? Can we make new traditions? These are some of the topics we will be considering.
Near the end of the month, I will be posting a series of devotionals on the twelve days of Christmas. There are certainly traditions associated with each of these days. I'm hoping it will also be a way to slowly wind down from the Christmas season -- which after months of preparation seems to come to an abrupt halt on Christmas Day. The presents are opened, the cookies are gone, the hype is over. My hope is the devotionals will remind us that Christmas is, above all, a religious holiday, a holiday that should leave us with a renewed desire to practice our faith boldly in the coming year.
This is a special month, and too often it becomes stressful as we try to fulfill all those traditions perfectly. My wish to our readers is a peaceful and joyful December, celebrating the One it's all about.
He loves you and so do I!
