just finished halving

habanero/scotch bonnets

for seeds to spring-plant

then I peeled a tangerine:

what a fine heat and sweet juice

*(used to the sting "down there" and am reminded of the time I made a tincture of habanero juice to a small squirt bottle just before the Chatty Cathy Tar Bender left her ringside perch with her pals at Uncle Nicks to find I had doused the seat and a little of the paper with my brew. She came out cussin' and sputtering and confronted me. In my sweetest and not-at-all-innocent voice I said: "maybe you could have asked if I'd like a new beer in my empty glass next time." And, no, neither Linda May or her Wednesday Day Care relief tender, one of my mom's pals, Laura Lahey were working that Tuesday morning.)
