To all my Australian readers happy whatever public holiday or not this happens to be, except in Victoria who had their one last Friday and NT, WA and Tasmania who have holidays at some other time. Traditionally this holiday is celebrated by people saying "what public holiday is this?" and using it to adjust to daylight savings time (in those states that have it). It is a day of national unity in which the nation says "Is today a day off?" and people try to remember whether it is or not.
