TM9736 Slipping into October 36x40 oil on panel
To quote one of my favorite American poets, Theodore Roethke:
".....The river turns on itself, The tree retreats into its own shadow. I feel a weightless change, a moving forward As of water quickening before a narrowing channel...".
Roethke's profound identification with the natural world has always inspired me, or maybe I just see through the world as he does, with joy and melancholy, knowing that we are small pieces of it. Slipping into October is certainly about time and passage. I remind myself that every moment is precious as I watch the leaves spin in the current. Details below. Enjoy.
