A strange child, always in their imagination,
Always looking out the window at unseen things,
Always in a world only they could find.
"Ah!" The old women would say. "They're away with the fairies!"
II
One day, the strange child could not be found.
Not at home. Not at the school. Not with other children.
Not even at the creek, where they watched water eddy and flow.
"Ah." Their mother despaired. "They're away with the fairies."
