She went from having to wait until others were gone to people being changed by her words. Many looked down upon her and she was condemned by many and the talk of the town. Yet, Jesus was there by the well that day to meet with her. He knew she would come and by the time their talk was over, that her life would change. Her testimony from the encounter was of redemption and love, not condemning and hatred. We were never told her name but were told of her encounter. An encounter that changed her life forever. She was the woman at the well.
There are many in the world we live in now who are lost. Many may feel they aren't worthy of His love. When they look at themselves in the mirror, they turn and walk away. They at one time made bad choices in their life. They've heard the talk, where others condemned them and watch as many turned their back upon them. Yet the sin of the ones gossiping, is no different than the one they are talking about.
The encounter was put in the Bible for a reason. Jesus didn't condemn her, He revealed to her things that she and God would only know. He then spoke to her about how the many things of the world will in time run dry but when we come to Him, the well He gives us, will never dry up. Gods word is a never ending fountain. The same verse can say something to you one day and another the next.
If you are feeling like the woman at the well. Maybe rejected, talked about, not loved, reach out to Jesus. Just one encounter can turn your pain into a testimony. "Many Samaritans from that city believed in Him and trusted Him [as Savior] because of what the woman said when she testified, He told me all the things that I have done. So, when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they asked Him to remain with them; and He stayed there two days. Many more believed in Him [with a deep, abiding trust] because of His word [His personal message to them]; and they told the woman, we no longer believe just because of what you said; for [now] we have heard Him for ourselves and know [with confident assurance] that this One is truly the Savior of [all] the world." John 4:39-42
