No, I'm not dead, kidnapped, hospitalized, or abducted by aliens, I just haven't blogged in days and days. I apologize. I had good reason for not blogging at the start. On Friday I was a daredevil. On the way home from my walk I bought corn on the cob from a pop up stand on Grand Concourse. It was cheap, 3/$1 so I bought three. It did not look good at all, but it was perhaps the best corn I ever had. Here's a simple cooking tip, don't overcook corn. I steam it for 4 minutes. Steaming is better than boiling though not as good as grilling. For years I avoided corn as it got stuck in the narrows of my small intestine created by Crohn's disease. So why did I have it? Since I've been on Entyvio my Crohn's has bothered me less than at any time since I was 12. A few weeks ago, I experimented and had two ears with no ill effects. That made me confident enough to try three. That did not work out very well. I was able to eat breakfast in the morning but then the corn hit the choke point and got stuck; I was out of commission for the day. I stayed in my chair for most of the next 12 hours. extreme enervation is one way it hits me. I could not concentrate enough to write. In the evening I went right from my chair into bed and fell right asleep. When I woke up, I was feeling better, was able to go to the bathroom and felt much better; so much so that I ate breakfast. I then went back to my daredevil ways. I went to Katherine's birthday party. Not only was Katherine there but so many other of my friends, too many for me to list them all. I could but I know I'd forget someone, and that person would know that it was because I'm an idiot but might still feel slighted. I count nine people that I know independently of Katherine, plus Katherine's friends that I befriended. I can't resist a gathering of the tribe. By the time I got there I was feeling good enough to eat though not to run around and play frisbee. I was up for Corn Hole. Katherine party in the park is an annual event. I go every year. I was more sedentary than usual, I didn't take pictures, and I didn't even stand and join in on most of the jam. I sat and talked to friends. Still, I was feeling fine, just a little weak. On the way home the Crohn's struck again. By the time I got home I was feeling like a did the day before. I flopped down in my bed and didn't move for a few hours. Finally, I felt the obstruction pass and my digestive tract started emptying. This was the real deal. That's fine but it was still too late for me to write, and I was still tired.

I don't have to start apologizing until yesterday when I could have blogged but didn't. The part of my brain that blogs was still disrupted. I couldn't get started. At least I forced myself out of the house to get my walk in and do long overdue shopping. My brain was still not up to snuff, I never made a shopping list and didn't buy one of the necessities, sliced cheese. I have a confession to make, I'm a failure as a cheese snob. My favorite cheese is not even cheese, it's some name brand's Pepper Jack Cheese Melt. It's one of those things that has to call itself a cheese product, not a cheese. The thing is no cheese works better on a breakfast sandwich or grilled cheese than it. I used to buy deli pepper jack cheese, and this is better. Please don't ostracize me.

My health is totally back to normal. My appetite is back to being a bottomless maw. Tonight, I'm going to watch the Mets versus the Brooklyn Deserter Dodgers. I take the desertion personally. They left Glorious Brooklyn for Soulless Los Angeles just three months after I was born in neighboring Queens. Jacob deGrom will lead the Mets to victory over the Trolley Dodgers' young upstart Tyler Anders with his 13-2 record and 2.69 ERA. Good will triumph because I'll be there to make sure it does.
