THINK TOGETHER
Have you ever played a game where you had to hit the center of a target? Do you enjoy those kinds of games?

Do you remember our verse from yesterday? Here it is again:
2 Corinthians 3:18. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Yesterday we talked about worshiping Jesus or beholding him. Not just looking at him with our eyes (which we can't really do because he's in our hearts), but thinking about him and having him in our mind, imagining that he is always with us loving us – because he is!
Now the next questions is this - how do we think about Jesus throughout the day? How do we behold the glory of God in Jesus when there are so many other things to think about and look at?
I like to think about it like a dart board or a target with a bullseye in the center. Jesus is the bullseye. Jesus is at the center of the target. And surrounding Jesus are all the other things in this life that God has given to us as awesome gifts. Little things like our toys or games, or good food to eat, or sports to play. And then bigger things like nature, and music, and great stories. And then finally the most important things like our families and church.
But none of these things is Jesus. And, of course, none of these things should be worshiped. They are not at the center of the target – Jesus is!
But all of these things can help us to behold Jesus. They can all remind us of how good God is. But God isn't good just because he gives us snacks, and toys, and sports, and cool songs and movies. And God isn't good just because he made a beautiful earth and gave us people who love us. All these things are amazing, but what is most amazing about God is that he gave us his Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and love us no matter what.
The world around you is going to tell you to put other things at the center of the target. Good things like your sports team, or your family, or yourself. Yes, your team is awesome, and your family is awesome, and you are awesome, but in the end all of these things can let you down. Your teammates, your family, your church, even yourself – none of these will love you perfectly.
But God will never let you down. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. He will love you to the end and he will love you perfectly through everything you go through.
Because of Jesus we know that God will love us perfectly forever.
With Jesus we can enjoy everything God has given us without worshiping it.
DO SOMETHING TOGETHER
Play a "target hitting" game together (darts, skeeball, corn hole). Talk about how everything around the bulls eye is good, but only one thing can be the best – that's Jesus and his love for us on the cross.
PRAY TOGETHER
Jesus,
You are the center of my life. Help me use everything in my life to remember how much you love me.
Amen.
