I entered into the Tuscany region of Italy as the Orthodox Holy Week was in full swing, & the narrow gate of Passover was closing.
I came home with the waning moon to a literal tornado in the Heartland, feeling like I was Pinocchio in Dante’s Inferno – a donkey in Paradise.
The Pleroma Temple of Buggiano is a sacred vortex in the bustling province of Pistoia – the “city of enchanted stone” in the Italian region of Tuscany, near a tributary of the River Arno, north-west of Florence. Hidden in plain sight behind an ordinary storefront window is the Sophiological-Mystery School - cultivating Anthroposophical Spiritual Science - the Center of the Association - founded to form a chalice for the Ritual work of the Misraim Service. This place of the New Mysteries radiates like the Sun from a Heart-Center, activating the soul-forces of the all, bringing out the best in the periphery – which is then able to radiate back a universal love that re-enhances the Center in a lemniscate of mutual support.
Basking as I was in this supportive light, the work of my unexpected initiation thrust me inwardly into a shadow-world of the Underground temple - the Nightside of Eden, in the Tunnels of Set, corresponding to the Qlippothic Tree – where the center sucks in the periphery, & cannot give back. There I felt my failings – my fear of being transparent - confusion turning my head with contradicting voices coming thru others as reflections of myself – need, jealousy, resentment, subtle sabotage breeding the green-eyed monster … feeding my egotism, flaming up as shame - & my inability to truly serve in the Sun Temple.
By grace - on the last day, the cave became a Holy Grotto - the Grotta Giusti - & I was able, thru the eurythmic service & fellowship of my dear Soror EC, to remember what Dante said: “Look at that circle which is closest to the Point; and know that its motion is so swift because of the burning love by which it is driven”. ~Dante, Paradiso, Canto XXVIII The impetus of ‘burning love’ at the center Point is so actual that it appears, in its concentrated wholeness, to be perfectly still - Divine Rest - is not the absence of movement, but movement in the Eternity beyond Time & Space - the Point - where all true motivation begins. The closer we draw into the Point driven by Love, the more our e-motion can be directed into proper motion. Aristotle’s insight tells us that this Center is the “Unmoved Mover” - spinning with such absolute velocity that it presents itself as the still-point – the dot - that moves everything - with everything revolving around this Perpetual Center - which is in the Heights of Heaven - AND in the Depths of Earth -
Here we enter the Holy of Holies – the Spiritual Sabbath of the Shekinah - the Perfect Peace of the Unmoved Mover - Rest that brims with vitality - Stillness that contains all motion - Rest that is not inertia, but Origin — the brooding Dove from which all creation is born. In my digestion I see now how when my heart gets stuck, when my emotion grows cold, self-centered, or confused, life feels point-less. When Love is not my motivation - my intention & goal – then I have drifted away from the Point – I get lost in the maze – caught in the catacomb. The only way back to the True Center is not thru my small selfish desires or will, but by standing in moral uprightness – able to humbly take up the pallet of my sickness, to walk the straight & narrow path - Resting in the Faith that the healing will come with wings of Grace - & that with consistency I shall make my way - back again to the Point - where Love directs my little will to serve the Divine Will - in the honest encounter with the other – & in the Center of my Third Eye – Where the Uni-verse whispers the Unspeakable Secret – Where the Master Word is buried – Where I must forge the sword of Michael - as I meditate & mediate the Temple Center in the Heights & in the Depths - In the discernment of ‘burning Love’ - The Center ever serving the Circle – The Circle ever striving toward the Center - where Love is swift & to the Point. And so as I integrate my experience I re-member: Through the trespass lies wisdom - Not in spite of error - but through error, lies the transformation of the soul.
