For many ages, what has belonged to a small circle of Initiates, can become accessible to every human being of Goodwill who strives to manifest the practical path of the Rose-Cross. Thanks to Anthroposophy - source of spiritual knowledge, & a practice of inner development rooted in the Modern Rosicrucianism brought by the Great Initiate Rudolf Steiner – we can unite our human aims, with the Spiritual Aims of the leading Adepts of esoteric Christianity, in order, out of freedom, to join the circle of the ‘friends of God’ - Doing our part - Working with them to fulfill the Divine Blueprint of Universal evolution.
In the 14th century, the Rosicrucians lived & worked as an Occult (ie. hidden) association of striving human beings. In outer history, Rosicrucianism dates back to the beginning of the 17th century, when Johann Valentin Andræ published his ‘Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, Anno 1459’ – along with other esoteric writings which started to come forward at that time. But the occult history of Rosicrucianism goes back much further – with impulses preparing the way long before the written word. Unfortunately, in external scholarship, like many things of importance in world history, including the Mystery Deed of The Christ at the Turning Point of Time, it is often seen as mere allegory, without an understanding of its Wisdom or true mission.
One profound Spiritual preparation for the Rose-Cross Mysteries can be traced to a veiled milestone event which took place in the 4th century AD. Rudolf Steiner in the last lecture of ‘The East in the Light of the West’ describes it as one of the greatest convocations that has ever taken place - a meeting, called by Manes (Mani or Manu), founder of Manicheism, taking place in the Spiritual World belonging to the evolution of Earth. Manes (known as: The “youth of Sais”/the “Son of the Widow”/ Parzival) - brought together 3 of the greatest Initiates of humanity: Zarathustra, Gautama Buddha, & Scythianos – They came together to consider how best to reintroduce the Light of Wisdom, infused now with the warmth of Love ever since the Incarnation, Death & Resurrection of Christ, the Being of Love, on Earth. This convocation sparked what we can call the Alchemical Marriage of Love & Light - which thru the combined forces of these Christian Masters, can unfold more & more gloriously on into the future.
Behind this Mystic Marriage is the essence of the Manichean teachings, which relate to the doctrine of Good & Evil. To understand the development of humanity, Good as well as Evil must be viewed as a wholeness - a unity. Manicheism studies the function of Evil & suffering in the world, in order to bring light into the darkness. The aim of Manicheism is to teach humanity to become Redeemers – Real morality shows up as right relationship - The key: The True Master must be the servant of all.
And, who are these ‘True Masters’ - brought together by Manes in that illustrious assembly? In a nutshell: Gautama Buddha, came with the gift of his purified astral body – modeling what Spiritual Science calls the ‘Spirit-Self’ = a redemption of the lower desire body, an ennoblement of selfish cravings, birthing instead a clear ‘Harmony of the Spheres’ – which Buddha brought to the Luke Jesus, experienced as ‘choirs of Angels’ by the simple shepherds. Zarathustra, who was able to follow the Christ-force in the Sun as Ahura Mazda back in ancient Persia, & who later brought forth his purified etheric-body = “Life-Spirit” – to the Matthew Jesus – a bright light recognized by his Magi disciples who were led to follow his star to Bethlehem - After that mission, the spirit of Zarathustra took on the role of ‘Master Jesus’, bringing a new quality of vitality to the etheric realm for all humanity which can unveil for us the Etheric Christ. And Scythianos, described as the ‘hidden Initiate’, who preserved the primeval Atlantean wisdom, as ‘Keeper of the Seal’ - related to the Mysteries of the Temple - & the secrets of the Resurrection of the physical body - that humanity may become ‘Spirit-Human’. Here we get a glimpse into how these 3 Great Initiates connect with the Mysteries of the 3-fold human being – physical, etheric & astral - presided over by Mani, the “Son of the Widow” holding the Christened “I”.
