Well friends, here we are again, at the edge. How will YOU step off? Tonight between 11:30 PM – the threshold of the old year, & 12:30 AM, the rise of the New, many Biodynamic Farmers around the world, will be creating the crowning BD preparation that most folks don’t get to experience – The ‘Three Kings Prep’ designed by Hugo Erbe, a contemporary of Dr. Rudolf Steiner. The indications say that beginning on New Year’s Eve - grind by hand, Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh. This mirrors the gifts given by the 3 Wise Magi - as an offering to the Matthew Jesus child, a reincarnation of Zarathustra, their stellar teacher. Rooted in esoteric teachings - these 3 Sacred Substances, sprayed on the land as a capper to the last Holy Night, serve as sacrificial gifts to the Elemental Beings. Gold: Symbol of the Sun & the light of Wisdom - Thinking Frankincense: Representing Devotion & Seership - Feeling Myrrh: Death & Resurrection - Willing Then on 6 January (12th Night - Epiphany or 3 Kings Day) we stir this preparation in an undulating water vortex for an hour - & then walk the perimeter, spraying it outwards, creating a circle of protection & light. Hugo Erbe speaks of the significance of water in this process. “In the context of human evolution, the time when it was spiritually appropriate to make burnt offerings must be held to belong to the past. Appropriate for our present time, and therefore effective, are offerings made with water. This is the reason why a water-based form for the Preparations as sacrificial substances, especially belonging to The Three Kings Preparation, came to be.” We asperge & circumambulate with hearts full of gratitude & the warmth of love, acknowledging our responsibility as human beings to steward the Earth, making a commitment to the Elemental Beings & the ‘Spirit of Place’ - gifting them with this ‘Spiritual Sustenance’. This year, since CG & I have moved from the Windy City to America’s Dairyland, just a few minutes from Zinniker Farm, we will be able to fully participate in the grind, stir & asperging of the 3 Kings Preparation on the oldest continuous biodynamic farm in America.

I have music for ‘We Three Kings’, ‘Over the Hill and Over the Dale’, & the words to ‘Though my Soul’. If anyone would like to lead the singing, please step in for that. Then we will walk the indoor Labyrinth for our the Moving Meditation. The labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. Combining the imagery of the circle & the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path, it represents a journey to our own center & back out again into the world; much like the seed from Winter to Spring. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation & prayer tools. It is an archetype with which we can have a direct experience of sacred geometry. Walking the labyrinth is a potent practice of Self-Integration, awakening the Divine knowledge encoded within our DNA, fortifying our vital forces for the New Year.
