After the glorious week of Cosmic Dance, we stayed on to take the healing waters at Casa Raphael, an Anthroposophical Medical Center in Roncegno, on the slopes of Mount Tesobo, part of the Lagorai mountain range, one of Trentino’s most unspoiled natural areas. The hotel-spa-conference center is famous for their ultra mineralized thermal ‘Vetriolo’ spring water from Levico Terme – rich with meteoric metals unique to Italy - the highest thermal spring in Europe - Used for curative purposes since 1815 – Mentioned by Rudolf Steiner! Our 5-night immersion included appointments with 2 young Anthroposophical Doctors for an intake to determine what personal herbal teas & medicated compresses we would receive. On the 1st day I had a rose / gold oil dispersion bath, & CG had a birth bath - the perfect set up for our 1st big hike around the mountain – We never stopped marveling at the awe-inspiring views, past vineyards, apple, & pear orchards, dotted everywhere with shrines to the Madonna. A prestigious setting for the high-end culinary experience of the ‘Palace Hotel’s excellent restaurant, Il Glicine, which we already had the pleasure of partaking of during the Cosmic Dance retreat. Their culinary offerings use only local organic or biodynamic produce, some grown in their ‘Maso Albio’, the Casa’s own vegetable garden - they also grow the medicinal plants for the laboratory where they make their remedies.
Every morning before the sumptuous breakfast we walked the ‘Kneipp paths’ – a stimulating stroll thru hot & cold water – causing an enlivening prickly sensation in the legs (the German word Kneipp means pinch).
Before lunch we took to the waters. We were told that the rust colored balneotherapy baths were notably strong because of the compounds of arsenic, copper & ferrous iron in the Levico springs, originating from dolomites of the Italain Alps passing thru banks of metalliferous rock, becoming enriched with valuable minerals & a strong healing acidity underground. The essence of each of the elemental kingdoms come together in a warm soup that the skin drinks in like medicine. Thanks to its proven therapeutic, energizing & anti-inflammatory properties, these healing waters are a natural aid for physical & mental well-being - stimulating the immune system, & the vital forces of the etheric body. The Dr. said it would be helpful for my osteoarthritis, & hypothyroidism - a natural way to regenerate, relieve pain & promote healing. She mentioned that the baths are particularly beneficial when the seasons change since that is often the time the human being is most vulnerable to illness. The baths were strictly timed, & we were cocooned like a human burrito afterward to allow the body time to benefit from the properties of the medicine-water. The Inhalation therapy also consisted of breathing a vapor of this Levico water into the lungs.
After Lunch we received a yarrow compress over the liver, relaxing into a mid-day meditation all tucked up in our room with the majestic view of Mount Tesobo.
Everyday we trekked around on the many mountain paths surrounded by Pine, Chestnut trees, & dusky ripe grapes, discovering waterfalls, cemeteries, & hidden grottoes.
The kind attentive nurse-practitioners cautioned us that we might experience what they called: ‘a reaction’ - & lordy lord they weren’t kidding – HEALING CRISIS ALERT! Even my beloved CG who is fit & fine had sleep disturbances as various pains emerged. Besides the aggravation of various bodily alignments coming to the surface, my dream life became an exhausting time of trial - revealing the beasts hiding in the folds of my soul - draped along with my recent Art Therapy session with Soror KT from Canto II raking open the Sacred Wound which I hold in my throat chakra – & all this was overlaid with images from the last book in the C.S Lewis Space Trilogy “That Hideous Strength” which I had been reading as my ‘candy book’ (ie. any non-Anthroposophical book) on the trip. My digestion was in an upheaval - I could no longer enjoy the 5 course dinners. Blahblahblah – I won’t embarrass myself by sharing all the gory details - Anyway I think being out in the mountain air, taking vigorous sweat producing hikes, along with the cogent communion expereinced in yet to be revealed Canto V - helped work itup & out - along with the luxuriating massages. We even received a Dr. Hauschka facial, before we set off for our next adventure with Pleroma Viaggi…To be continued…

“Everyone who has the task to heal should acquire a fundamental feeling for the surprising connections between supersensible beings and human beings. For significant intuitions can emerge from such research, particularly in Materia Medica and therapeutics. To take an obvious example, let me remind you of such substances as Roncegno-water, or Levico water, which are as though compounded by some beneficent spirit—to speak figuratively—preparing ready for use in the world of nature, diverse ingredients capable of acting favourably within us. If we bear in mind the remarkable manner in which the two forces of iron and copper blend and temper one another in the water from these spas, and the addition of arsenic, making their mutual compensative operation even wider and more firmly based, we must say to ourselves: here in external nature is something especially prepared for certain conditions in humankind… It is advisable, especially at the present time, to meet and counteract the morbid symptoms that are manifesting in our age. Do not let us forget that objective observers on all sides are recognising that peculiar conditions are beginning to affect many regions of the earth’s surface, bringing peculiar forms of disease in their wake. Such a disorders as influenza have indisputably acquired strange features in its recent form; the power of rousing previously latent sicknesses to which the individual organism has a tendency, but which might otherwise remain hidden throughout life. These latent morbid trends are uncovered, as it were, when the patient is attacked by influenza. These matters compose a bundle of questions, upon which I will base our next lectures. The most fruitful approach will be from the consideration of another remarkable circumstance, which perhaps only the spiritual scientist can fully appreciate. As you are aware, oxygen and nitrogen are mingled in our atmosphere…And we, as earthly beings, are wholly enmeshed in the combined activities of these two elements, oxygen and nitrogen, and one can therefore assume from the outset that there is a great significance in the relation of oxygen to nitrogen in our atmosphere. Spiritual Science shows us this significant fact: every change in the composition of the atmosphere which alters the normal proportion of oxygen to nitrogen, in either direction—is associated with disturbances in the process of human sleep. That leads us to inquire into this hidden relationship more definitely. When sleep begins the ‘I’-ego and astral body separate from the physical and etheric bodies; returning again when the individual awakes. This is a true mirror-image of the admixture of oxygen and nitrogen in the external atmosphere. Both correspond in a remarkable and astounding way. The composition of the external atmosphere is of such a nature as to furnish the ratio for the connection between astral and etheric bodies, and concurrently between their partners, the physical body and the ego. This will also naturally make us attentive as to how we have to think and act in regard to the composition of the air. And we also see that these main components in the atmosphere, play very important parts within our human bodies. This is a hands-on workday, please dress for the weather and to get dirty.
