I had an elucidative conversation with my wise friend Lisa Dalton, Master Chekhov Teacher & co-member of the Grand Lodge of Mysteria Mystica Americana (who gave me permission to share). She asked me why I often highlight historical events of the day, alongside my essay offerings here, some of which bring up sensitive topics. This question made me realize that I haven’t spoken about the impulse behind this initiative for a while. Before I moved here to bring the ‘Cognitive Ritual ~Confessions of a Modern Rosicrucian’ on substack, I started writing on the Reverse Ritual web site back in 2015 partly inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s Original Calendar of the Soul (Die Seelenkalender) which, besides its 52 verses, gives reference to the birth & death days of various Saints & great historic figures whose deeds changed the course of World-events, hinting at the association with specific times of the year, reflecting supersensible influences on those dates. Spiritual Science shows that the time of year someone is born, or dies, has spiritual significance. The same is true for the date & timing of great world shaking events. The Seasons of the year are associated with different spiritual qualities - the timing of these events is not coincidental - they are related to the soul's relationship with cosmic forces on the individual level, as well as on the marco-level - So looking at these dates gives us a glimpse into our collective karma. I have extended this practice from the original calendar of 1912 to include important modern milestone events, in the hopes of revealing occult patterns, along with the ‘Speaking with the Stars’ feature. The practice of tuning into the various past historical happenings, in relation to what is occurring in the present time, & how these currents live on into the future, fosters an inner experience of the outer world's metaphysical forces - giving us insights into what is working behind these events in relation to the karma of humanity - which if taken up, can consequently support our journey along the path of evolution.
Lisa mentioned that the ‘hard to hear’, often ‘political’ references I share (such as when the Nazi’s did this or that) can be shocking - a big turn off for a student of hers, who feels he must distance himself from me because of these references. Ok, yes, I get that there is an old social taboo that says we mustn’t talk about politics or religion. The reasoning is that it is divisive. This is certainly true if we are not willing to live into the 3-fold Social Order as outlined by Spiritual Science with equanimity & real tolerance – as well as a willingness to take interest in All points of view.
If we don’t look at how the Economic Realm is enslaving the Politics of the Rights Realm, as well as robbing the Cultural Realm, then nothing is ever going to change. What would the world be like if we could all speak from the heart, & leave others in freedom to do the same? Then perhaps conscious conversations would arise that could lead us to real change. Perhaps we would realize that: The Political/Rights Realm – must become focused on Equity, Equality & Equanimity; The Economic Realm – can only serve if it is centered on Sister/Brotherhood – a cooperative association of Inclusion; & the Education/Cultural/Religious Realm – needs to be based on Freedom & Diversity.
My work then, as now, is inspired by this quote: “Understanding of the world as it actually is; the ability to bring spiritual knowledge right down into the practical life of humanity, into the stubborn spheres of technical industry & economics, as well as into the thinking; the moral life; & the actions of the human being – this is one side of Rudolf Steiner’s challenge. The other is, the development of the inner life of soul, which generates love for human beings, and the wisdom to promote their spiritual & social well-being … The inspirer of the 20th century has lived among us, & lives among us still. Is it not for us to work as laborers unto harvest?” ~D.N. Dunlop, “Rudolf Steiner and the fulfillment of the Quest”.
By practicing an ‘As Above, So Below’ philosophy, as we live more consciously into world-events, & by meditating on the 52 Calendar of the Soul verses throughout the year, we can experience the changes of the Seasons inwardly - enhancing spiritual awareness & growth - to make adjustments - in the attainment of a greater insight into our human role in the Universe. The annual cycle of the year is a path of Initiation - reflecting spiritual rhythms that influence the soul’s connection to the natural world, human development, & the Cosmos. In speaking about the Calendar, Steiner tells us: “What is presented here can be useful to those who wish to follow the path of humankind's spiritual development” ~Rudolf Steiner
Here is another great description of the process from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay ‘Compensation’: “Polarity, or action and reaction, we meet in every part of nature; in darkness and light; in heat and cold; in the ebb and flow of waters; in male and female; in the inspiration and expiration of plants and animals; in the systole and diastole of the heart; in the centrifugal and centripetal gravity ... If the south attracts, the north repels. To empty here, you must condense there. The value of the universe contrives to throw itself into every point. If the good is there, so is the evil; if the affinity, so the repulsion; if the force, so the limitation ... Thus is the universe alive. All things are moral. That soul which within us, is a sensibility, outside of us, is a law.”
We as human beings must reach a stage of Christic compensation, of balance between the opposites, enhancing the polarities to become forces of inner growth & maturity.

14 November 2024 - “Speaking with the Stars”: Tonight is the Eve of the Full Beaver/Mourning Moon - Bella Luna will reach perigee – the closest point in its elliptical orbit around Earth - The exact moment of Fullness will comeat 3:29 p.m. CST tomorrow 15 November 2024. As we know the Full Moon rises opposite the Sunset - Is highest in the sky at midnight; & rests low on the western horizon opposite the Sunrise.
Bright Jupiter will be near the bright Super Beaver Moon. The Pleiades star cluster will be close as well. Also look for the fiery orange star Aldebaran – the Eye of Taurus the Bull – close to Jupiter.
