What was the sequel/replacement series for the PBS Kids game show WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SANDIEGO?
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SANDIEGO? was a children's game show that aired on PBS from 1991 to 1995. based on the computer game series by Broderbund, the show was hosted by Greg Lee and featured Lynne Thigpen as The Chief and the a cappella group Rockapella. The premise was that the villainous Carmen Sandiego and her gang were purloining famous landmarks and the contestants were charged with figuring out where the villains were and then capturing Carmen. It was fun, it was fast-paced and it was must-see viewing for a lot of kids back in the 90s. Plus it had one of the best television theme songs EVER.
However, as often happens in broadcasting, the Emmy and Peabody-winning series was cancelled after five seasons and 295 episodes. This disappointed many, myself included. The following year, another series based on the Broderbund Carmen Sandiego franchise premiered, effectively taking the place of WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SANDIEGO? It might be called a sequel or a continuation or even a reboot, of sorts, because Lynne Thigpen returned as the Chief. But Greg Lee and Rockapella were, sadly, absent from this spinoff (replaced by Kevin Shinick and "The Engine Crew"). That certainly made it inferior in my mind. Maybe viewers agreed, as it only lasted for two seasons.
So what was it called? What was the replacement series for the PBS Kids game show WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SANDIEGO that debuted in 1996?
Think about it and I'll post the correct answer later.
