Austin (Circle A Cowboys #7) Kindle
Austin by Linda Ford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Forgiven So, I finally see why Austin left without explanation. Mae is hurt beyond words and it takes most of the book for God to soften her heart, but he has returned to his solitary existence until God works on him. It's a good ending though.

He can't forgive himself for killing her brother.
Austin is a gunman on the right side of the law, but upholding that very law resulted in him shooting men commiting a robbery. Unfortunately, one of the thieves his bullets stopped was Mae's brother. Knowing she'll never forgive him, he rode out of her life without admitting what happened. He's told himself he won't look back, but he knows he will never forget her.
Mae can never trust Austin again after he abandoned her in her deepest need.
After the tragic and life-changing death of her brother, Mae is left to raise his children. She had thought she and Austin were going to be married. To spend their live together. He could have helped her with her niece and nephew, but he just rode away without any explanation. It is difficult for Mae to support her little family when she can't find permanent work. A promising opportunity to teach at the Circle A Ranch offers her a reprieve.
On her journey to her new position, their stagecoach is robbed. Austin discovers the overturned and abandoned coach and rescues Mae and the children. He takes them to the ranch, intending to continue his journey but finds he can't leave until he can assure himself all is well with them. When the truth about what happened to Mae's brother is revealed, her anger and pain turn toward him. But she can't deny how helpful he's been and how much fun they've had together. Can she forgive him and find the home her heart yearns for? Will he forgive himself and seek the love he so badly wants?
