Mrs. Mannching Wang, a parent of a special needs individual, has dedicated herself tirelessly to advocating for the special needs community and contributing significantly to FCSN. Over her 26-year journey with the organization, she has served as the South Bay Local Program Coordinator for five years, mentored numerous FCSN volunteers, and helped in Saturday Family Gatherings to foster community bonds among families facing similar challenges. Now, she shares a message of hope and solidarity for future generations united by love and support.
Mannching, preferring to be called by her first name among coworkers, joined FCSN in 1998 upon returning to the United States with her special needs son. Initially disappointed by local public school experiences, she discovered FCSN through school staff recommendations, joining just two years after its inception.
Since then, Mannching has been deeply involved. Reflecting on her journey, she emphasizes the invaluable mutual support and camaraderie among FCSN parents. She credits Linmei Chao, the president at the time of her joining, for warmly welcoming her and facilitating her learning through educational parent meetings. These sessions equipped Mannching with vital knowledge about special needs education rights and services that were available, empowering her to advocate effectively for her son and others.

Her involvement expanded beyond educational support; Mannching actively participated in community activities like the Saturday Family Gatherings, cherished for their role in fostering connections among families. These gatherings, where families learned updated information about special needs education and laws, enjoyed meals, and did activities together, left a lasting impression on Mannching, who found joy in seeing her son and others thrive in a supportive environment.
From organizing children's activities to initiating summer camps, Mannching's role evolved over the years. As the South Bay Local Program Coordinator from 2010 to 2014, she pioneered summer camps that provided enriching experiences for special needs children, including music, art, science, PE, games, bus tours, swimming, and train riding sessions. Her current role as Volunteer Coordinator allows her to share her extensive experience in special education, guiding and training volunteers to better serve the diverse needs of special needs children.
Despite the challenges she faces in her role, Mannching remains committed to advocating for the best interests of special needs children. She encourages volunteers to understand and empathize with these children, hoping they will carry this understanding into their family, communities and workplaces.
Beyond her volunteer work, Mannching is passionate about ensuring that all parents of special needs children feel supported and empowered. She urges them to seek out support networks, persistently advocate for their children's needs, and prioritize their own well-being in the journey.
Looking ahead, Mannching envisions a future where the special needs community continues to receive the care and support they deserve. She believes in the importance of ongoing education and advocacy to foster greater understanding and acceptance of special needs individuals in society.
In her 26 years with FCSN, Mannching has witnessed positive shifts in attitudes towards special needs individuals, advocating for their rights and a more inclusive society. Her dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to all who work alongside her, ensuring that the mission of FCSN continues to impact countless lives.
