Daily Service: Fear Not

FEAR NOT appears 91 times in the Bible. Check out all the references in the graphic above. God has not given you a spirit of fear. If you are experiencing fear about your future, your present, your job, your family, or anything else, it isn't from God. It is from Satan, the father of lies.

Exodus 14:13-14 AMP Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. ^[1]

""And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." (Exodus 14: 13–14, KJV) We are people of faith. We are saved by faith. We walk by faith. As humans, we would much rather walk by sight. But the Bible says, in four different books, "The just shall live by faith." Fear is the opposite of faith. If we live in fear, it's difficult to have faith. We all have doubts and fears, but as Bishop Morris Golder used to say, "Don't believe your doubts, and don't doubt your beliefs." I refuse to live in doubt and fear. I choose to move forward by faith. There's no doubt about our doctrine, our pursuit of holiness, our belief in the miraculous, and our desire for church planting and growth. But to fulfill these commitments and receive God's promises, we must move from fear to faith. In our text, Israel had received miraculous deliverance from slavery in Egypt. They were headed to the Promised Land, but to receive permanent victory they had to cross the Red Sea. It was the opportunity of a lifetime. But with opportunity comes challenge, with challenges there's always a risk, and with risk there's fear. In those times, we must move from fear to faith. In Exodus 14: 1–12, God first told Moses what was going to happen and gave him instructions. The Israelites came to the Red Sea and faced an impossible situation. In front of them was the uncrossable sea, while behind them was the Egyptian army. They responded with great fear and began to complain about leaving Egypt. At that point, Moses spoke God's message to them. In verses 13–15, we see seven elements of God's plan of action."
