Easter Weekend 2024

Lauren

April 1

Whew, this weekend went by way way too fast! But at least it was because we were busy with fun stuff, like Disney on Ice, Easter breakfast, a baby shower and MY CHILDREN SLEEPING IN THEIR ROOM TOGETHER ALL NIGHT LONG. Yeah, it was a good weekend πŸŽ‰

Friday night is always so sad. Seems like we just get the kids home when it's already time for bed πŸ˜” We just had leftovers for dinner and got to hang with them for a bit before putting them both to sleep IN THE SAME ROOM. We've tried doing that a handful of times, but we've maybe finally cracked the code. Felt like such a triumph!

Even more of a triumph when Joey and I woke up the next morning and they were both still asleep in their respective beds!!!! A literal miracle. Hopefully we can stay on this path and all get some better night's sleep. Joey made us all pancakes and then the kids and I played in the backyard while he went on a run. Then Dempsey and I got ready because we had somewhere extra special to be!

Disney on Ice!!!! Lori bought tickets for the three of us and we had great seats and the best time. I think Dempsey really liked it because he's still saying to me "Mama, remember when we went to Disney on Ice?? That was fun!" πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί The merchandise is overwhelming and EXPENSIVE (why??) but the performance itself was so good. It was Mickey's Search Party, so we got to see parts of a handful of Disney shows and I thought that was pretty cool. After intermission, the sugar kicked in and Dempsey was dancing around in his seat the whole time. So cute 🀍 I'm excited to take Joey and Lydia next time!

Reunited with Daddy and Sissy afterward and she was pretty excited about her snowflake wand 🀍 Definitely had a lot to do but chose to sit on the couch and cuddle with my boy instead and then just when I was hoping to take to the kitchen solo and knock out some cooking for Easter and dinner, someone wanted to help me. But for real, Dempsey is an amazing sous chef and even though it slows you down to cook with your kids, that's kind of the point, isn't it? We made pesto and carrot cake scones and he made it through the salting of the pasta water before he was ready to go play with Dad and Sis. He did so good though! Pesto chicken, roasted veggies and pappardelle for dinner and it was all delicious, if I do say so myself πŸ˜‹ Got those littles to bed and watched some TV before heading to bed ourselves.

Happy Easter! We all got up and ready and headed downstairs to see what the Easter Bunny had left. In true little sister form, Lydia went straight for her big brother's basket πŸ˜‚ Since both my kids have later-in-the-year birthdays, we always try to get them some spring/summer stuff, but then the joke was on us when they wanted to play with all of it and it was meant for outside 🀦‍♀️ Both our families came over at 9 for breakfast and everything was amazing, so props to everyone for making such good dishes! The kids opened their gifts from the Grandmas and then we all headed outside for the egg hunt/playing with bubbles. Lydia is a great egg huntress and Dempsey was more interested in eating jelly beans. Grandma Lori got him an insane bubble gun that he was hellbent on blowing right into everyone's face πŸ˜‚ I'm so glad it was nice enough to be outside for a bit with everyone. I got to see my nephew crawl and it made me so excited to think all three cousins will be running around together by next Easter 🀍

After Lydia's nap and a little downtime for the rest of us, we headed out to a baby shower and stayed for just a bit before heading back home to make dinner, get the kids to bed, clean up and collapse onto the couch. Whew! Wish I could say we'll be able to rest this week, but we are headed straight into birthday/baseball/busy season, with Joey's birthday on Wednesday, Opening Day on Friday and then a bridal shower and another family breakfast on Sunday. It'll be busy and who knows if my children will sleep, but I really love this week and am very much looking forward to all the fun πŸ€πŸ’œπŸŽ‚⚾πŸŽ‰
