Curled up on the couch, watching the flames dance inside the wood stove, and absorbing the soft strains of music, I'm enjoying the stillness.
This past week has been go, go, go.
Good, but… it's good to rest.
Yes, it was a good week.
Goofing off with co-teachers between our interviews with the school board…
Cuddling my friend's baby and enjoying good discussion over our little fledgling church...
Chatting with my friend in her classroom, about hopes and dreams… school and life…
Staying way too late at school discussing random everything's with friends...
Whispering and goofing around in the school hallway with the upper-grade girls…
Spending two hours trying to plan a youth event in that same school hallway… complete with random selfies, amusing video calls, and a crazy multi-phone phone conversation…
Freezing and roasting around a campfire with a wonderful set of friends… singing… talking… throwing snowballs through the blazing pallet bonfire…
Being home for the weekend… cuddling little Princess… reading to Small… watching a movie as a family…
And now… now soaking up the goodness of stillness.
There's nothing that I need to do.
No place that I need to go.
No consistent train of thought that I need to try to maintain.
It's been a good week filled with good memories that dance through my mind like the flames in the stove.
So much in life is unknown.
I can loose sight of so much in the bustle and ups and downs of weekly life.
But now… just now, I glimpse the quiet of the soul. The joy of just living in the now. The rest of drinking in through every one of my senses the tangible peace of home.
