Isaiah asked rhetorically, "Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?" (Isaiah 50:10, 2 Nephi 7:10). The answer is simple: nobody. We may feel like we're in darkness at times. We may feel weighed down. We may face uncertainty. But the reality is that when we trust God and follow His servants, we are walking in the light.
John testified, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). Nephi declared, "The Lord God worketh not in darkness" (2 Nephi 26:23).
Sometimes we may be physically or metaphorically surrounded by darkness, but God's light can still shine within us. Alma explained that the people his father taught at the waters of Mormon "were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word" (Alma 5:7). And Isaiah said, "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined" (Isaiah 9:2, 2 Nephi 19:2). Our physical circumstances may not change, but when the light of Christ shines in our hearts, the darkness surrounding us no longer prevents us from moving forward.
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf promised:
Even though we may feel lost in the midst of our current circumstances, God promises the hope of His light—He promises to illuminate the way before us and show us the way out of darkness....
As you walk toward the hope of God's light, you will discover the compassion, love, and goodness of a loving Heavenly Father, "in [whom there] is no darkness at all."
"The Hope of God's Light," General Conference, April 2013
Today, I will walk in the light. I will draw near to God, so that His perfect light can guide me through the day and help me see clearly.
