Model United Nations Conference in Bangkok

Over 150 students from 22 international schools across Southeast Asia descended on the Thonburi Campus of Singapore International School Bangkok on 28th and 29th October, 2023, to join the first SISB Model United Nation Conference. The two conference was a great success with students enthusiastically engaging in lively debates, negotiations and resolutions.

Model United Nations (MUN) is an extra-curricular activity in which students simulate the United Nations and its various committees. Participants are assigned to represent a country or organization, and research and debate issues of international importance.

There are many different roles that people can play in MUN, including:

Delegate: Delegates represent their assigned country or organization in committee sessions. They research their country's position on the issues being discussed, and deliver speeches, make points of order, and negotiate with other delegates in order to achieve their goals.
Chair: The Chair is responsible for overseeing the committee debates and ensuring that they proceed in an orderly and efficient manner. They also rule on points of order and help to facilitate consensus among the delegates.
