We did this once didn't we? Waay back in the day; say roughly 325 AD. These guys got together to put in writing what we really and truly believe (pointer finger held up here to emphasis) BASED ON, biblical doctrine. The first council of Nicaea wrote what is known as the Nicene Creed. What's my point? How many denominations do we have? And how many specifically recite that creed to this day? That or the Apostle's Creed? How many of the various denominations out there even have a creed? A statement? A Motto? I know that recently the Methodist have split. Within the Lutheran titled Christians there are three separate branches that I'm aware of. We have the Wisconsin Evangelical, Missouri Synod and the Evangelical Lutherans. There are Baptist who seem to have one main branch, yet not one specific method of worship. Then there's the Pentecostals, Catholics, the more recent Non-denominational Christians who (no offence) don't want to offend literally anyone. Again, my point is this. The unity Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior prayed for His disciples and us; is not there. (John17:22&23) What is missing? Why? Why so many separate denominations or not-denominations? My question to all of you. Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Is what do you believe? Is it written down? Spoken? Consistent? Can we (or you) point someone new to who you are as Christ defines it and why? And maybe more importantly, can we (with the title Christian and all that it implies) Agree on it? What dear brothers and sisters is our creed today? In the year 2023 AD why do we believe in the sacraments we have? Why are they so important? And why do they differ from church to church if we all have the same bible? Why is there any discussion at all if the bible, God's eternal word, is our guide? Why do we, the created, assume to "interpret" God Almighty's clear, unchanging, true words? Think about it.
