When someone says, " I dare you" they are issuing a challenge. Most of the time if a challenge is accepted it can result in either positive or negative consequences. If you are reading or listening to this, I am issuing a challenge to you. If you accept my challenge, I promise the result will be positive. This is the challenge. I dare you to read the Bible every day.
This challenge is not just for churchgoers. I know that some people who read and hear my devotions are not Christians. This is for everyone. Set aside a few minutes every day and read from the Bible. Read it with a cup of coffee in the morning or let it be the last thing you do before you lay down to sleep. Whatever works best for you. Just read the Bible. I dare you. It won't hurt you. It will only help you.
Now if you accept my challenge, this is what I suggest. Choose a translation of the Bible that is easy for you to understand. Get one without a lot of footnotes or commentary. You need to start with just the words of God. In fifteen minutes you can read three chapters in the Old Testament and a chapter or two in the New Testament. Do this every day and in one year you will have read the whole Bible.
I found that reading the Bible every day gives me a sense of hope and optimism. This is why I start my day with coffee and the Bible. I don't try to understand what I read, I just read to be in the presence of God. Sometimes what I read is boring. Those are times when I just listen to the heartbeat of Jesus. I have never regretted spending time reading the Bible and neither will you. Reading the Bible every day is good for your mind, body, and soul. So read the Bible. I dare you.
