This month I made a bag which is to be filled with Christmas presents. It will be given to children at a local Women's Refuge. The bags were put on display at a local event organised by Thanet Stitchers. There were lots of bags, all with different designs. This is how I made mine.

Materials
If you'd like to make one the same, you will need the following materials:
Oddments of Christmas fabric - 12 pieces each cut to 5" (127mm) square
One oblong of Christmas fabric 15½ x 20½" (394 x 521mm)
Two strips of Christmas fabric 14″( 35cm) long and 1¾" (44mm) wide.
You also need 2¼ yards (2.05m) of Christmas ribbon ½" (12mm) wide and coordinating sewing thread.
Method
1 Begin by arranging your twelve 5" (127mm)squares on the work table to make a rectangle containing four rows with three squares in each row.
2 Stitch the squares into rows, then join the rows so you end up with a rectangle measuring 15½ x 20½" (394 x 521mm). Press well.
3 From this point onwards, use the instructions in the post here ('The Perfect Drawstring Bag' pattern) to:
* prepare the two casings for the drawstrings
*sew on the casings to the patchwork front and to the back
*join the patchwork front to the back of the bag, using French seam
*insert the drawstrings and tie the ends
