Pardoned by Grace is based on the life of Scott Highberger. Scott was an angry, troubled youth, who wound up in prison where he heard the Gospel. Although he had good intentions, upon release he fell back into criminal behavior. After his father forced him to leave home because he stole from him, Scott was desperate. He walked into a church, The Road to Life, where the pastor offered him a job and became his mentor. When he learned of Scott's history, he encouraged him to start a ministry to inmates, which became very successful. All of this seemed about to be disrupted when crimes he committed in another state come to light. Scott had to decide how he will face the consequences of his actions.
Scott's story is inspirational, but, in my opinion, this film is mediocre. The acting is not particularly good, and it focuses on the sentimental and saccharine. In short, it is a typical "feel-good" Christian movie.
VERDICT: 2 STARS. Nothing special. Scott Highberger has written a book, Behind the Wire, which might be more stirring. Maybe I'll review that at a later date!
