Arizona desert, wide open.
Big, red sky at sunset.
Rumbles of a storm,
That will never arrive in Flagstaff.
-
The night is hot.
The sand chokes your throat.
Heat lightning, far away.
The moonlight is a kiss.
-
Comfort music,
Long forgotten lady.
The road is endless.
It ends over the mountain.
-
We make it to the rain.
Instead of choking, I drown.
The lightning rings like a bell.
Bells and bells in my heart.
-
Rain cold on my face.
Is Jesus weeping for me.
Jesus wept for Lazarus.
Jesus could raise the dead.
-
When morning comes,
Will Gabriel or Charon?
Prophet, or dwell in endless sun?
What words were written down?
-
I remember, Mother,
Stroking my cheek,
Her smiling at me,
Singing for me.
-
I cry out for her,
In the dark.
I cry out,
As water fills my throat.
