I look out my office window at the bird feeder and birdbath and damn if I am not starting to recognize several of the feeders and bathers that frequent our little bird spa.
There is Louie, a big brown bird that has the loudest voice I have ever heard, save a few crows in California. Loie actually announces his arrival seconds before landing perfectly on either the lip of the birdbath, or on one of the rungs where birds perch as they peck at the seeds in the feeder.
Some of the veterans will merely walk over the cool grass, cooling their little bird bellies, and just take all the seeds which inevitably fall from above
Gisele is a pretty little cardinal that likes to sit on top of the feeder and look down on everything.
I think of her as a little diva.
Then there is Mike, who is the bully of the lot.
Mike fucks with everyone. If he is sitting on a perch and an approaching bird lands on a perch, Mike goes and takes over the other birds' perch. I named him Mike after the only fight I ever lost to a kid, the town bully, named Mike, kicked my ass.
None of my plans for a murderous revenge ever materialized, however. It is about 60 degrees and a touch of wind, so a day I should be out on a golf course somewhere, but I am saving myself for tonight's journey to the Rose Music Center, just north of Dayton, for front-row seats to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Stoked.
And on a pathetic note, I did check the seating plan very carefully on how Karen and I can get out of the amphitheater without getting killed to death in case some nut job opens fire on the audience.
Don't laugh.
Not a joke.
Not anymore.
We must look like a bunch of dumbasses to the rest of the planet with our joke of a (pick one): justice system, political system, or education system.
News flash: We are not the greatest nation on Earth. It is still my choice to live here, and if you do not like it here, don't badmouth and denigrate.
Leave.
Get the fuck out.
How about not ranking ideologies?
Everyone on this planet should be allowed certain basic freedoms including the freedom of speech and the right to all of the elements that compose a happy life.
It's such a short stay, that as I see my own existence in the foreseeable future, I am guessing I have up to fifteen years of life left in this sphere of existence.
Think about it; that's not much time.
Don't waste a minute of it.
Stay well.
