My last article spoke on trusting the process. So if your mind is having a wobble, click here for some reassurance. Take what resonates only. My experience may not always be the same as anothers.
Do you have a solid cancer support system?
I have an amazing cancer centre in Kent I visit. There I can share with others and that helps. I also get therapies, counselling and support which is the missing link of care and compassion the NHS just doesn't seem to have the time for. Get used to them just treating you will pills and not really having any advice or guidance for anything else and sending you on your way. I hate to be blunt but this is the reality I have faced.
When I was close to dying my local Hospice really helped me implement strategies to keep me going and working alongside my physical and mental health. I now use the Pickering Centre the whole team of solely volunteer's continues to support my mental and physical health.
I have no idea where I would be without them. I am very grateful they choose to spend their time and energy helping those living with cancer. I have found the support, understanding and compassion of those who have been through it, and who are disconnected from my circumstances so I am able to speak freely and openly about my feelings without offending anyone (i.e. family) is more beneficial to my needs. The right people will always be brought into your life at the right time. Never be afraid of using services there for you. I never even thought of using a Hospice because I only thought they dealt with those dying but they support terminally ill patients too.
