"They" 'ginned up Earth Day
again! - in fifty years still
none has asked Terra
what it will take to get rest
of days to join the parade*
*(Once a year - April 22 by my admittedly feeble lights - we all mention Earth and its one day and go away to our after-parties satisfied we have done our bit. Earth and its consort Sun - and, yes, for hundreds of years that fakir Aristotle conned us all into such a revolting situation and those who demurred faced excommunication at best and a burning stake perhaps at worst I know some who who say "Fie!" on your day to appease a trampled Earth, and I for the most part agree. I do not litter, yet rarely have I seen any mention of the refuse following a massive - okay, not so massive now, but then, yes! - outpouring of love for this ball-o'-mud we all adore. But am I failing in my filial demands by not firebombing those places Earth Liberation Front decries? All these people and groups taking the name of Earth in Vain. Enough to make you long for the clean crisp sulphuric air of roasting-hot Venus? Well, maybe not so much. Mars - Barsoom! - on the other tentacle... May modestly (ahem, ahem) I submit we cede Earth at least a greater portion of praise and attention: say, 365 days - we will leave the other quarter-day each annum for retching and wracking ruin. Okay?)
