Scripture: Psalm 90:17
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us, establish the work of our hands for us, yes, establish the work of our hands. (NIV)
Relevant Definitions:
Favor: to feel or show approval or preference for; an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual
Establish: 1. To bring about permanently 2. To enact, appoint, or ordain for permanence, as a law; fix unalterably 3. To install or settle in a position, place, business, etc.
Devotion:
Not only does favor surround us like a shield, but is also the unaltered approval of God resting upon us. (Psalm 5:12, Psalm 90:17) Being a Kingdom Kid comes with its benefits. We are children of the creator of all things. I believe that counts for something. I am reminded of the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. As the daughter of King George VI, she inherited the throne after her father's death. Now that she has passed on, her first born son, Charles will be crowned King later this year. There are no questions asked or proof needed for Charles to inherit the kingdom. The blessing and authority of the monarchy is the Windsor's family to pass on from one generation to the next. How much more is the approbation of or Father ours to possess?
Earthly kings and queens are revered and honored, but kingdom kings and queens are surrounded and established in unmerited preference. It is only one of the many blessings we have inherited from our Father. No, we aren't all called to sit on thrones and rule, but we belong to the one who does. Supernatural approval should be present in every area of our lives! Anything that says otherwise is in direct contradiction to this passage of scripture. Sons and daughters of the most high, be established in favor!
Reflection:
Have you been able to fully embrace the truth of God's word that favor is a part of our inheritance? Today, take time to reflect and allow the Holy Spirit to shine his light on areas that need strengthening. Know you are a kingdom kid and have a full inheritance that God is ready to manifest with greater glory in your life.
Prayer:
Lord, we thank you that although we are men, you are mindful of us. We thank you that as your children, you have given us the honor of daily wearing your favor. May we become aware and wear this favor with honor and dignity, and may our perspective of your love shift enabling us to know we deserve it, because you have said so.
