Some people have a struggle believing the virgin birth - but it makes perfect sense that JESUS had to come down, put there in Mary's womb by the Divine Hand and yet settle there to be born in human form. Because JESUS came to save the world.
OUR GRACIOUS JESUS WAS FULLY HUMAN YET DIVINE.
ISAIAH 9: 6 "FOR TO US A CHILD IS BORN, TO US A SON IS GIVEN, AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE ON HIS SHOULDERS. AND HE WILL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE."
The virgin Mary was greeted by an angel who said she was highly favored and said this........
LUKE 1: 28 "THE LORD IS WITH YOU."
Mary was young and poor, yet GOD chose her for HIS most wonderful display of Divine goodness. And Mary at first was troubled by this greeting and again the angel said to her:
LUKE 1: 30 "DO NOT BE AFRAID, MARY, YOU HAVE FOUND FAVOR WITH GOD."
What person wouldn't be afraid.......confused all the more realizing that one day you would carry a little human inside of you, yet a fully divine one, the Son of the Most High!
LUKE 1: 32-33 "HE WILL BE GREAT AND WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF THE MOST HIGH. THE LORD GOD WILL GIVE HIM THE THRONE OF HIS FATHER DAVID, AND HE WILL REIGN OVER JACOB'S DESCENDANTS FOREVER, HIS KINGDOM WILL NEVER END."
How does one, especially Mary wrap her sweet head around a divine coming that would reign over a mighty kingdom that will never end? Oh Mary! The LORD was surely with you!
Mary's faith was such that she obeyed the LORD and her trust must have been great.......
LUKE 1: 35 "SO THE HOLY ONE TO BE BORN WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF GOD."
This was truly an amazing SON OF GOD and perfectly HOLY.......perfectly DIVINE.
The last thing spoken to Mary before the angel left her were these words:
LUKE 1: 37 "FOR NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL."
And oh how Mary must have trusted those words! And we should too. Let's remember this Christmas story this year in a new way.......and see the human and divine in it, the trust and the obedience.
OUR FULLY HUMAN YET DIVINE SAVIOR WILL NEVER FAIL US!
Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua, but it means "the LORD saves." What a gracious and precious gift for all mankind, JESUS coming in human form, yet fully divine. JESUS came for the world to give us hope and salvation from our sins. And Mary being fully human in an act of pure submission allowed a divine gift of grace to come into our dark world.
LUKE 1: 38 "I AM THE LORD'S SERVANT, MARY ANSWERED, "MAY YOUR WORD TO ME BE FULFILLED."
We know this side of history, that the LORD'S word was fulfilled! JESUS came and continues to come for us........HE walked the earth then, experienced our pain and yet did it all as a perfect human yet perfectly divine. HE continues to reign today and will for all of eternity!
LUKE 1: 49-50 ".......FOR THE MIGHTY ONE HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR ME - HOLY IS HIS NAME. HIS MERCY EXTENDS TO THOSE WHO FEAR HIM, FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION."
