As Christians we are to stand in the gap for JESUS.......HE is the way the truth and the life and the light of our lives! So we live to worship and gather and help others. Our mind is not for ourselves, but more for what JESUS would do in each situation.
There are times when we can stand in that gap abundantly for others with our hands and feet, but there is one place where we should not and that is in the area of justice.
JESUS is good and perfect and right through and through. HE is the good GOD of all justice and when we take it into our own hands we are sinning.
PROVERBS 28: 5 "THE EVIL DO NOT UNDERSTAND JUSTICE, BUT THOSE WHO SEEK THE LORD UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING."
As humans it seems to be our sinful nature to want our own way, especially when someone wrongs us. We seek revenge or some type of manipulation, rather than allowing GOD to use HIS justice in the matter. I think the holding back from someone who has wronged you just to control them is the most damaging especially in a friendship. I have experienced this recently with someone saying everything is fine when her behavior speaks very differently. I apologized on my end and she said I was forgiven, only to experience complete silence on her end. So I have to put it into GOD'S hands. HE knows what is in both of our hearts and HIS justice in the situation is what is needed. GOD brings sweet and wonderful friends into our lives and sometimes HE removes those who are not good for us.
OUR GOD IS A RIGHTEOUS AND JUST GOD.
JEREMIAH 9: 24 "BUT THE ONE WHO BOASTS SHOULD BOAST IN THIS: THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS ME - THAT I AM THE LORD SHOWING FAITHFUL LOVE, JUSTICE, AND RIGHTEOUSNESS ON THE EARTH, FOR I DELIGHT IN THESE THINGS."
Our GOD delights in these 3 things: love, justice and righteousness. So why as HIS children would we not want those same things? We desire them in our own lives and for the world too.
GOD DECIDES WHERE HIS JUSTICE WILL FALL.
Our world right now is a perfect example of what worldly justice looks like! People cancelling others, people attacking one another, killing each other, sometimes for no reason at all. It is heartbreaking what we are witnessing in the current times. Imagine if all those people had turned the other cheek? Imagine if they would have shown forgiveness.......imagine.
Let's remember this: GOD'S justice is perfect. We might not understand why, but we would be wise to not take matters into our own hands. Let GOD stand in the gap for you when you want to strike back. HIS way is the only way and it will give you peace of heart, knowing that HE fights for you.
DEUTERONOMY 20: 4 "FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS THE ONE WHO GOES WITH YOU TO FIGHT FOR YOU AGAINST YOUR ENEMIES TO GIVE YOU VICTORY."
