THINK TOGETHER
What's something you are positive of?
READ TOGETHER
As you grow up you'll learn that there are not many things in this life that we can be sure of. There aren't a lot of things that we can be positive will happen. In science class you will learn about law of nature that you can be sure of – the law of gravity, or the laws of motion.
But the Bible says that there is something else we can be sure of. And that is the love of God. Read this beautiful section of Romans 8 and listen to how the Apostle Paul describes God's love for us.
Romans 8:35-39. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered."
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What are you positive of? What are you 100% sure is real? Is it God's love? Is it that you will never, ever, ever be without God's love for you?
You might be thinking, "Well there must be something that proves God has or will stop loving me." But there's not. Look again at Paul's two lists in Romans 8:35-39. First, there's the list of earthly things – tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword. So even your worst day can't take God's love away.
Then there's Paul's second list, his "out of this world" list – death, life, angels, rulers, things present, things to come, powers, height, depth. These are the things beyond the physical. And even these things can't take God's love away from you.
There's nothing you can do, nowhere you can go, no dimension of time or space, no trial or tribulation, no cosmic or earthly kingdom, no dying or living, nothing in all creation, that can change the fact that God loves you because he loves you. He loves you for who you are, not for what you do or don't do. He can never love you more and he can never love you less.
Why? Because that's how he loves Jesus, and when you trust in Jesus you are forever connected to him.
Because of Jesus God will never stop loving us.
With Jesus we can be sure that God is loving us today and every day.
DO SOMETHING TOGETHER
Illustrate the law of gravity with your kids by dropping things. Talk about how the law of gravity is constant (even a balloon or airplane will eventually come down). In the same way God's law of love for us is constant and unchanging too.
PRAY TOGETHER
Jesus,
Thank you for connecting your life to mine so that I can always be sure of God's love for me.
Amen.
