Today I have a quick life update for you and I will have my theater wrap up in another post. One of the great things about having company come to visit is it forces me to go out and see the great state I live in and do stuff I've either never done before haven't done in a long time. In June my friend Ryan came for a visit and we packed in the fun for the 5 days he was visiting (some of which I will cover in the theater recap).
The first day of Ryan's visit we went to Thanksgiving Point and explored the dinosaur museum, butterfly habitat and Dinosaur Island park- all 3 venues I've never visited but were super fun. It was insanely hot that day so I was very grateful when a family offered to let us ride in their golf cart through Dinosaur Island (small blessing!). It was a great way to start the trip
Then on Saturday we both swam the Great Salt Lake Open Water Swim. I wrote about my experience with the swim for my work blog here. I was also featured in the Deseret News which was fun here. The GSL is sadly drying up which means we may not have the race next year. It's always grueling but that's part of the fun of it. After finishing for my 6th time we drove to the Bonneville Salt Flats something I haven't done in years but was super fun.
On Sunday we went to Music and the Spoken Word at the Conference Center and it was a really special performance with the entire orchestra present. We then went to a place for brunch I had never been to called Cafe Niche. It had a very cool vibe with delicious food I'd highly recommend. Then Ryan went to church with me and we concluded the day going to see Top Gun Maverick at the Redwood Drive-in. What a great day!
I also had other great experiences in June like when I got to meet up for lunch with Hallmark directors and friends Peter Sullivan and Randy Carter. I also had a ton of fun movie premieres such as for Elvis and Jurassic World Dominion and I got some swims in along the way. Especially considering I got a wicked cold mid-way through the month I'd say it was a pretty productive time for me.
What have you been up to in June? I'd love to hear your experiences and what parts of your state have you discovered when company comes to visit?
