Occasionally I like to venture outside of the confines of the PBS North Carolina to notice how some of the programs we've aired have impacted pop culture. As such, it seems like one of the biggest of those has always been DOCTOR WHO. The long-running science fiction series has been around in some form since 1963 and has spawned international fandom with movies, books, magazines, comics, toys, games and - candy?!
Apparently so. A friend who has a business selling toys and collectibles recently came across this interesting relic of DOCTOR WHO merchandise in a collection of sci fi he purchased. Take a look...
The box (and it is just the box, so no sweets are inside sadly) apparently dates back to 1980 and boasts 16 pieces of DOCTOR WHO candy. No idea what type of candy but the mind boggles. I mean, what Whovian wouldn't want to bite into a chocolate Dalek or suck on a sour TARDIS? Maybe a marzipan K-9 or a peppermint Cyberman might've been lurking within to tempt your taste buds. We'll never know.
