Written from a Stockport Writers prompt

I like old songs and new musicals.
I like cats and dogs and snakes and rats
(the pet kind, that is; not the vermin).
I like it when my children visit.
I like my husband's affectionate touch.
I like my friends.
I like getting into pyjamas at four
in the afternoon on snowy days, tea and chocolate
and a favourite book on the go.
I like warm spring days and rainy summer nights
and the nourishing crunch of autumn leaves.
I like that Americans call autumn 'fall',
for that is how we get those crunchy leaves
I joyfully kick through.
I like my bedroom, my personal space,
decorated to my taste and tidy, like my desk.
I like my desk. I like my noticeboards, my quotes
and pictures and pinned knickknacks. I like
my chaotic noticeboards; they are my admission
that life should sometimes be messy.
I don't like writing.
I love editing.
I like that I will draft these tatty lines into a poem
one day, and remember sitting with this group
in this place in this moment, and smile.
