Blue is a colour that is found frequently in scripture and it is well worth looking up more references and doing a fuller personal study.
The Hebrew word 'tekeleth' is translated blue. It signifies a spectrum of blue from sky blue (Josephus) to a deep dark blue, but can also indicate violet (Strongs). Most translation however use the meaning of 'blue', apart from the NAS which renders it 'violet'.
The Greek word is 'huakinthinos'. This word is found only in Revelation 9:17 where it is translated 'hyacinth blue'
The colour blue is frequently associated with the tabernacle and temple furnishings. For example:
"Moreover you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine woven linen and blue, purple, and scarlet thread; with artistic designs of cherubim you shall weave them." Exod 26:1
In conjunction with precious stones, the sky blue colour of sapphire represents heavenly things:
"And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone" Ezek 1:26
Further information Blue is also associated with the commandments of God, the importance of remembering them and also the heavenly calling of those who had been chosen by God to be His people (Numbers 15:38-40).
The ark of the covenant in the Tabernacle was covered with blue cloth representing its close association with the Word of God (Numbers 4:5-7; 11-13).
The robe of the High Priest was also blue, again symbolising the close association with God and His Word (Exodus 28:31-33).
Related Symbols: HolinessBlue is connected with that which is holy in God's service "And you shall make loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set, and likewise you shall make them on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in the second set." Exodus 26:4 "You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim.. ..the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy." Exodus 26:31-33 See also: Exodus 26:36; Numbers 4:6-7
Related Symbols: OthersThis colour is also connected with chastening and teaching. This is a different word 'chabbuwrah' which means bruise or blueness. It is translated as 'blueness only in the KJV "The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly." Proverbs 20:30 (KJV) Blue also has its counterpart in those who corrupt God's ways and usurp His divine symbols for evil worship of false gods. "But they are altogether dull–hearted and foolish; A wooden idol is a worthless doctrine. Silver is beaten into plates; It is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, The work of the craftsman And of the hands of the metalsmith; Blue and purple are their clothing; They are all the work of skillful men." Jeremiah 10:8-9

Further information
Israel were fed by God during their journey through the desert after being brought out of Egypt. This food was called 'Manna': niles rivers
"And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey." Exodus 16:31
This white substance represented a deep spiritual lesson that "man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD." Deuteronomy 8:3
The whiteness of milk is associated with the basic principles and teachings of God's Word.
"And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able" 1Corinthians 3:1-2
Only after learning the basic principles of scripture can the disciple of Christ move on to understand the deeper principles and spiritual lessons of God's Word.
