Vegan Hot Chocolate!

Ingredients: Makes About 1 Serving

For Hot Cocoa:

  • About 1¼ cup of unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla creamer
  • About 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • A dash of cinnamon
  • Marshmallows (optional)

For Coconut Whip Cream:

  • 1 can of coconut milk (left in the refridgerator over night)
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla (or creamer as a substitute)

Directions:

ForHot Cocoa:

  1. Combine the unsweetened coconut milk and vanilla creamer together in a pan and bring to a slight boil.
  2. Combine cocoa powder, maple syrup, and a dash of cinnamon in a heat-proof mug.
  3. Once it has come to a boil, turn off the stove and let it sit for at least one minte. Then pour into mug and stir together.
  4. Garnish with whip cream, marshmallows, and a touch of cocoa powder. (optional)
  5. Enjoy!😀

For Coconut Whip Cream:

  1. Take the refrigerated can of coconut milk and open it. Pour out coconut water. (You can put it in a jar to use later in another recipe, if you would like.)
  2. Take out the solid pieces of coconut and break up with a spoon or fork.
  3. Add the vanilla and sugar.
  4. Combined until light and fluffy.
  5. Top hot chocolate or another dessert.
  6. Enjoy!😀

Notes:
The tablespoon amount is a suggestion; I like a deep chocolate flavor. But you can use less, such as 1 teaspoon and still get a delicious hot chocolate! Also, I found as I made the hot chocolate that the whip cream melted almost instantly when I put it into my cup of hot chocolate. So I would suggest placing the whip cream in the freezer or refrigerator for at least one to two hours before using it in a hot chocolate or warm dessert. And for the milk, you can use almondmilk or another plant-based milk. I used coconut because it gives it a more hot chocolate consistancy. (Also, I use either non-gmo or organic in every recipe, but you can choose what you would like to use.😁) And for the marshmallows, I used the Smashmallow brand; they are tasty!

Story Time!

Blogging Week 54
Recipe #11:

Welcome to another week on Shutterbug Tales! I am so glad that you decided to stop by! 😀 Today I have shared with you my vegan Hot Chocolate recipe! It is delicious and a wonderful treat to have on a cold fall/winter night! When I began changing my diet, I wanted to make a dairy-free hot chocolate that would taste like a normal hot chocolate. After several years, my hot chocolate recipe is what it is today! Now, it's time for this week's true story entitled,

Laughing By the Jackets

Now before I begin, I must say that I do not like Black Friday shopping. The lines and stores are SO Very Crowded, and it's right after Thanksgiving. (So people are mainly thinking about getting stuff instead of being thankful. And I also have worked in the retail industry; I know that during this time it makes it very hard for staff to keep the store stocked and clean, all the while helping customers along the way.) ANYWAY (sorry about that😁), one day about nine years ago, I went Black Friday shopping on a Thursday evening with some relatives. It was my first (and last) time that I went shopping for those sales.

It was during that night that my brother wanted my sister and I to go to a certain section in a well-known store to try to get an item that was going to go on sale but was also quite popular. So we did. It was a very quietly tense area. People were cordial enough but were all slowly huddling around the box of items waiting for them to be opened by an employee. My sister, worried that we wouldn't be able to get the item, said that she was going to go closer so that she could make sure she would be able to get one. I said that I would stay back and keep guard.😁 Anyway, people were impatience; and about two mintues before an employee was suppose to open the box, there was a loud noise. Then all of the sudden, people started to rush in, grabbing for the items. My sister was swarmed by people trying to reach over her to get the item, so much so that I couldn't see her. So I began to go over there to get her out, when all at once the sea of people dispersed. What I then saw was a girl take the item (that my sister had managed to get) right out of my sister's hand. My sister, full of boldness and a crazed look in her eye, belted out, "Hey! That's mine!" (You see, in a normal circumstance, she wouldn't so this. She would just stare at them as they walked away.) The girl who took the item quickly gave it back to my sister and walked away. My sister then looked to find me. I couldn't help it. I was laughing by the jackets.😄

Well, that is all I have this week; but what did you think? I hope you like the Hot Chocolate recipe and the true story! Also, how was your Thanksgiving Day? Let me know in the comments below! Next week, I will be sharing a vegan Butter Cookie recipe; so I hope you come back for that recipe and short story! I hope you have a great day and a sweet week! 😄May God bless you, and keep smiling!😀

Here is a Bible verse for you this week!

"19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord;
20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"

Ephesians 5:19-20 (KJV)
