‘Big wheels keep on turning Proud Mary keep on burning’ - Here we are - together once again in the waiting room - Yep the word Advent comes from the Latin advenire, ‘waiting for the arrival’ or that which is coming. We celebrate Advent as a four week Festival - leading up to the Winter Solstice & the birth of the Sun/Son at Christmas. It is a time of preparation - an exercise of patient inner burning - of becoming present - & waiting in the dark for the return of the light. During this time, we deepen our relationship to the world around us by recognizing & celebrating the strength & beauty of all four kingdoms of the natural world. During the first week, we pay tribute to the mineral world. During the second week, we focus on the plant kingdom. In the third week, we celebrate the kingdom of animals. And the fourth week speaks to the human being & our future Self as Angel Beings. As we pass through these Advent weeks, it moves us toward a deeper understanding of our place in the universe, of all that supports us, & all that we aspire to, as well as all that needs our care & protection. The four candles represent many four-fold wonders, such as the four seasons of the year, or the four virtues of Peace, Faith, Hope, & Charity. The First Sunday of Advent begins with The Mineral Kingdom - which holds the crystallized thoughts of the Cosmos – it is the realm in which the eternal speaks thru physical form – an expression of the Divine Creative Word - & it is the foundation on which the human will builds itself - an anchor of hope & steadfastness – the Prima Materia made manifest - the foundation for Spirit & Mater. This first week of Advent is a stepping-stone, giving us the opportunity to contemplate & configure this foundation - as we live into how the physical mineral world inspires a soulful relation in the building up of our powers of strength & service – carving out a grounded, reflective inner stability - a steady, firm foundation for our transformation. The inner work of Advent lays a cornerstone upon which the structure of our spiritual life can rise to meet the Christ light. “As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” ~1 Peter 2:4-6 In ‘Signs and Symbols of the Christmas Festival’ GA 90a, Birth of the Light’, Rudolf Steiner describes how Advent is a recapitulation of the past 4 cultural epochs in our human evolutions (Indian, Persian, Egypto-Chaldean, Greco-Roman) connected with the evolution of the entire Universe – moving from: Unity to Duality, into the reality of The Trinity &, ultimately, to the Birth of Christ in the human soul. “Each Advent is an opportunity to re-live, in miniature, the great drama of humanity’s spiritual evolution. It begins in the depths of the mineral realm with the stone, and ascends through the realms of life, to meet the Divine.” During the Advent-tide we lay the Christic Cornerstone - our spiritual foundation for the New Year. The physical body is especially put to the test, tasking us to recover the moral potential of revolution thru karmic Justice. At this milestone - humanity stands at a new Turning Point – a Crossroads - where we are invited to awaken in our reckoning & converge with the great Cosmic mission which gives Earth its meaning & humanity its goal. I stand with you in the dark ~hag Here’s a free Video recording of Advent - where we meet the Fire Trial in the Mineral KingdomGood day dear international friends, Pleroma Travels is happy to inform you that we have officially made our upcoming trip to Ireland, scheduled for May 17–24 - 2026, accessible to all English-speaking participants. There will be a simultaneous translation service, provided by one of our collaborators who has already carried out this work on other occasions involving themes related to Anthroposophy. The trip is confirmed, & there are only 3 places that remain for those who may be interested.17–24 May 2026 (7 nights - 8 days) the total cost of the trip will range between €2,500 and €2,800. The largest variable is the accommodation we choose, so the final price will only be determined once we know the exact number of participants. INCLUDED IN THE TRIP COST - interpreter service fees (and her trip’s costs) - accommodation with breakfast (single bed in twin bed’s bedroom) - entrance tickets to the sites we will visit - car rental and necessary fuel (we will travel in small groups by car, with fixed drivers who are members of the group—if any of you would like to drive, please let us know) - tourist tax - artistic materials for any activities proposed on site - audio system for listening to the lectures through headphones while walking - the Pleroma membership card, required to participate in our trips (€130 per year). Since we are not a tour operator, membership is necessary in order to organize “association excursions.” NOT INCLUDED IN THE TRIP COST - flights - any kind of insurance (each participant may arrange their own) - lunches and dinners (which we will still try to organize as a group to make the most of the experience) Below you will find the flight times we booked for the Italian group. It is important that your arrival in Dublin takes place before our arrival, so that we can all meet in the area or at the hotel we will book, making the gathering process easier for participants coming from different countries. OUTBOUND FLIGHT (You should arrive before this time) We land at 11:55 local time in Dublin on 17 May RETURN FLIGHT (You should depart after this time) Our scheduled departure is at 19:25 local time in Dublin on 24 May Please consider that we will be at the airport about two hours earlier, and you may have checked luggage. What Won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics? Quantum Physics You Can Hold in Your Hand
What Won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics? Quantum Physics You Can Hold in Your HandThis year's Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for the discovery of quantum phenomena at the macro scale i.e. in devices that can fit in our hands
Quantum Phenomena At the Macroscopic Scale: The 2025 Nobel Prize in PhysicsOn October 7, 2025, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics to three physicists, namely John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis, “for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit.” In simpler terms, the trio demonstrated that the bizarre laws of the quantum world, which are typically seen only at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles, can apply on a scale big enough to hold in your hand. Their experiments revealed quantum physics in action in a tangible, human-scale device. What They Did and Why It Matters?Quantum mechanics is often associated with the microscopic: electrons, atoms, photons, etc., entities so tiny they can’t be seen directly. Phenomena like quantum tunnelling (particles “passing through” barriers) or energy quantisation (energy comes in discrete “chunks”) have been known for nearly a century. I explored Quantum Tunnelling at length in an old post on this newsletter for those of you interested: But applying these effects to large, engineered systems has long seemed like science fiction. However, the 2025 laureates challenged that assumption. They built an electronic circuit made of superconducting materials in which all the electrons behaved collectively as a single quantum system. In their experiments, this circuit exhibited two hallmark features of quantum behaviour:
By performing these experiments, Clarke, Devoret and Martinis proved that quantum mechanical effects aren’t confined to atomic-scale systems; they can emerge in macroscopic, engineerable devices. Devices that can fit in our hands & devices that are perhaps larger as well, furthermore elucidating that these quantum phenomena are no longer confined to the microscopic world of subatomic particles. Why This Is a Big Deal For Science and TechnologyThe significance of this breakthrough is twofold. Firstly, conceptually, it blurs the traditional boundary between the quantum world and the classical (everyday) world. Quantum physics and classical physics, if you will. Systems that look “normal” and “big” can, under the right conditions, act quantum-mechanically. That challenges how we think about quantum physics and expands the realm where quantum rules apply. Secondly, practically, their work laid the foundation for modern quantum technologies. Superconducting circuits with quantised energy levels, so-called “artificial atoms”, are core building blocks in quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and ultra-sensitive quantum sensors. In other words, thanks to their discovery, the strange world of quantum mechanics is no longer just theoretical or confined to labs. It is now the backbone of emerging technologies that could reshape computing, communications and measurement & in more ways than one, the future of technology in the coming decades itself. Looking Forward To The Quantum FutureThe 2025 Nobel Prize for physics is a signal and a precursor to how the future could unfold. By proving that quantum behaviour can survive in macroscopic circuits, Clarke, Devoret and Martinis have unlocked several possibilities, i.e. from fault-tolerant quantum computers to next-generation sensors, and perhaps new technologies we can’t yet imagine. As quantum computing races forward with big companies and research labs worldwide building on these foundations, the 2025 Nobel Prize stands as a landmark & a confirmation that the quantum revolution is not just about theory, but about real, physical devices you can hold, fabricate and scale. In a world increasingly shaped by quantum phenomena and now emerging quantum tech solutions, i.e. from encryption, to quantum computing to measurement, logistics and beyond, this year’s Nobel prize in physics award reminds us that the strange, counter-intuitive quantum realm is not just the playground of particles at the microscopic level. It is, quite literally, within our grasp.
